José Reis (politician)
José Maria dos Reis Costa is an East Timorese politician, and a member of the Fretilin political party. From June 2020 to July 2023, he was the more junior of East Timor's two Deputy Prime Ministers, and also the Minister of Planning and Territory, in the VIII Constitutional Government of East Timor led by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak. Previously, he served as a Minister, and as a Secretary of State, in earlier Constitutional Governments. Early life and career Reis is a member of a noble family from Bucoli in the Baucau Municipality of East Timor. During the Indonesian occupation of East Timor, he worked as an official in the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Tasitolu
Tasitolu ( pt, Tasitolu, tet, Tasitolu or , ) is a protected area on the coast of East Timor, west of the capital Dili. The Tasitolu wetlands include three saline lakes, an esplanade, and a beach; it has been designated a Wetland of National Significance. Tasitolu Peace Park was designated in 2002 because of its cultural and historical importance. The Tasitolu Important Bird Area accommodates several near-threatened species. A 2004 reforestation project, which included community member participation, was funded by the national government. Subsequent to the 2006 East Timorese crisis, several hundred people sought refuge at Tasitolu's tent camp, established by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Cyclone Seroja
Severe Tropical Cyclone Seroja was a deadly tropical cyclone that brought historic flooding and landslides to portions of southern Indonesia and East Timor and later went on to make landfall in Western Australia's Mid West region, becoming the first to do so since Cyclone Elaine in 1999.
