Jostein Eriksen
Jostein Eriksen (7 July 1926 – 16 December 2015) was a Norwegian opera singer. He was born in Våle. He studied at the Oslo Conservatory of Music and in Vienna, and made his concert debut in Oslo in 1956. He was appointed at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet from 1958. Våle
Våle is a village in Tønsberg municipality, and former municipality, in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. Våle is a rural, agricultural area, with Kirkevoll/Brekkeåsen, Rånerudåsen, Svinevoll, Sørby and Gretteåsen as more dense housing areas. The administrative centre was Sørby. The parish of ''Vaale'' was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 2,408. On 16 July 1873, an uninhabited part of Vaale was moved to Ramnes municipality following a royal resolution. In 1947 a part of Botne with 8 inhabitants was moved to Våle. On January 1, 2002 Våle was merged with Ramnes to form the new municipality Re, which on Januari 1, 2020 was merged into Tønsberg. In 1996 Våle had a population of 3,868. Norwegian National Opera And Ballet
The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet ( no, Den Norske Opera & Ballett, links=no) is a Norwegian opera company and ballet company. The first fully professional company each for opera and ballet in Norway and the only such professional organisation in the country, it is currently resident at the Oslo Opera House, since the spring of 2008. History Founded in 1957, the company had Kirsten Flagstad as its first general manager, from 1958 to 1960, and placed an emphasis on presenting operas and ballets written by Norwegian composers, and Norwegian as the standard language of the opera singers. Subsequent general managers have included Bjørn Simensen. The Ballet School at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet was founded in 1965.
