Joseph Marceau
Joseph Henri Marceau (October 29, 1879 – April 9, 1955) was an Ontario contractor and political figure. He represented Nipissing in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1919 to 1923 and from 1935 to 1937 as a Liberal member. He was born in Pont-Rouge, Quebec, the son of Hypolite Marceau, and was educated in North Bay, Ontario. In 1900, he married Elida Seguin. Marceau was a general contractor and was also involved in the timber trade. He also served as a member of the town council for North Bay from 1909 to 1912. Marceau was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1914. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province. Théodore Legault
Théodore Legault (July 26, 1886 – January 17, 1935) was an Ontario merchant and political figure. He represented Sturgeon Falls in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1926 to 1929 as an Independent-Liberal and then Nipissing as a Liberal member from 1934 until his death in 1935. He was born in Wendover, Ontario, the son of Hormidas Legault. In 1912, he married Estelle Bourdon. He served as mayor of Sturgeon Falls in 1922 and was president of the local Board of Trade. North Bay, Ontario
North Bay is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of Nipissing District, and takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay developed as a railroad centre, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War. History The site of North Bay is part of a historic canoe route where Samuel de Champlain took a party up the Ottawa River, through present-day Mattawa, on to Trout Lake and via the La Vase Creek to Lake Nipissing. Apart from Indigenous people, voyageurs and surveyors, there was little activity in the Lake Nipissing area until the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1882.
