Jose Antonio Dominguez Alvarez is a Panamanian politician who served as minister of public works, deputy, and national assembly legislator. He is the son of the former businessman and politician, Antonio Dominguez. Politics Jose Antonio Dominguez started his career as a civil engineer who later went on to work as an advisor to the minister of public works. He later became minister of public works from 1993 until 1994. In 1999, Mireya Moscoso appointed him to the post of ambassador and consul to Taiwan. Antonio Dominguez Richa
Antonio Dominguez Richa (also known as Antonio "Tony" Dominguez) was a Panamanian politician, businessman, and philantropist. He was the a district councilor (position no longer exists), director of immigration of Panama, a vice deputy to the Central America Parliament, and a founding member of the Panameñista party. He was also the owner of a business that went by the name of Villa de Caracas. He was married to Carmen "Carmensita" Alvarez and had six children, including Antonio Dominguez Alvarez and Jose Antonio Dominguez. Politics Antonio Dominguez was inspired by Arnulfo Arias which lead him to join the Panameñista Party. He was viceminister during Arnulfo's presidency in 1968. Mireya Moscoso
Mireya Elisa Moscoso Rodríguez de Arias (born July 1, 1946) is a Panamanian politician who served as the President of Panama from 1999 to 2004. She is the country's first female president. Born into a rural family, Moscoso became active in the 1968 presidential campaign of three-time president Arnulfo Arias, following and marrying him when he went into exile after a military coup. After his death in 1988, she assumed control of his coffee business and later his political party, the Arnulfista Party (PA). During the 1994 general elections for the presidency, she narrowly lost to the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) candidate Ernesto Pérez Balladares by 4% of the vote. In the 1999 general election, she defeated the PRD candidate Martín Torrijos by 7% to become Panama's first female president. Panameñista Party
The Panameñista Party is a nationalist political party in Panama. It was the third largest party by number of adherents with 256,138 members (as of February 2016). Founding and early history The party is the oldest continuously operating party in Panama. It was founded in 1931 by Harmodio Arias, a prominent newspaper publisher, and Ezequiel Fernández as the National Revolutionary Party. Its membership largely came from Patriotic Communal Action, a nationalist organization that led a coup in early 1931 to protest the large amount of American influence in Panama. Fernández was the party's first president. The party first gained a measure of power in the 1936 elections, when Fernández became second vice-president in Juan Demóstenes Arosemena's administration. Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez (; born 13 December 1963) is a Panamanian businessman and former politician who served as the President of Panama from 2014 to 2019. Varela was Vice President of Panama from 2009 to 2014, and Minister of Foreign Relations from July 2009 to August 2011.
