Jordan Crooks
Jordan Crooks (born 2 May 2002) is a Caymanian competitive swimmer. He won the first medal of any color and first gold medal for the Cayman Islands at the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships. He also holds nine national records for the Cayman Islands. Career Crooks qualified for the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest and the 2022 FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Melbourne. He won the gold medal in the men's 50 m freestyle event at the 2022 FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships beating Ben Proud, the defending champion. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Benjamin Proud (born 21 September 1994) is an English competitive swimmer, representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games, the FINA World Aquatics Championships and LEN European Aquatics Championships, and England at the Commonwealth Games. Proud specialises in sprint freestyle and butterfly races, specifically the 50-metre distance in both. He is the 2022 World Champion in the 50 metre freestyle, his second long course world title. He is the 2017 world champion in the 50-metre butterfly. He is only the third male swimmer to be simultaneously short-course and long-course World Champion at 50 metre freestyle, after César Cielo and Florent Manaudou. 2022 World Aquatics Championships
The 2022 World Aquatics Championships, the 19th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, were held in Budapest, Hungary, from 17 June to 3 July 2022. In March 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, FINA banned both the Russian and Belarusian nationals from entering the championships. Host selection Originally, Budapest was selected to host the 2021 World Aquatics Championships. However, after Guadalajara, Mexico, pulled out from the organization of the 2017 Championships, the city took the responsibility for hosting the event, since the infrastructure was already fully ready.
