Joost Zweegers
Novastar is a Belgian rock band led by Dutch-born singer-songwriter and guitarist/pianist Joost Zweegers. They are known for their emotional ballads, and the high pitch of Zweegers's voice. Zweegers has also released solo material under the name Novastar. Biography ''Novastar'' Novastar was the winner of Humo's Rock Rally in 1996. Their self-titled debut album ''Novastar'' was not released until four years later, in 2000, but with success. The album, produced by Wouter Van Belle and Marc Bonne, was released by Warner Music, reached #1 on the Ultratop Chart in Flanders, and won the band a platinum record. The singles "Wrong", "The Best Is Yet to Come", "Caramia", and "Lost and Blown Away" received much airplay. ''Novastar'' was honored as best album at both the Zamu Music Awards and the TMF Awards. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. The Zamu Music Awards was an annual awards show in Flanders (Belgium), where the most outstanding Flemish and international musicians of the past year were honored. The Zamu Awards were founded ''ZaMu'' (''Zangers en Muzikanten''; the Flemish association of singers and musicians). ''ZaMu'' was discontinued in 2006, but the organization of the Zamu Awards was taken over by ''Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen'' (Flanders Music Center), under the name Music Industry Awards (MIA's) For most award categories, a jury of music journalists selects four nominees. TMF Award
The TMF Awards were an annual television awards show broadcast live on TMF (The Music Factory). The first Dutch TMF Awards were held in 1995, as a brand extension to the recently launched local Dutch music channel TMF. The show was very small and held in the company cafeteria. However throughout the years the event gradually moved to bigger venues, and for some time now, it is now being held in Rotterdam Ahoy, a venue which can seat 10,000 people. In 2006, the show was held in the 'Heineken Music Hall' in Amsterdam. Since 1998 (with the arrival of the Belgian channel, broadcasting in Dutch, purely for the Flemish part of the country) a second TMF Awards show was launched. It started out in a local Antwerp Disco called 'Zillion' (which no longer exists, for a crowd of 2,000 people), and gradually moved to Flanders Expo in Gent (for a crowd of 8,000 people). Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia. Another Lonely Soul
''Another Lonely Soul'' is the second album of the Belgian band Novastar, released in 2004 by WEA. The album stayed at #1 of the Flemish Ultratop album chart for six weeks and was awarded a platinum record and the TMF Award for best album. The songs "Never Back Down", "When the Light Go Down on the Broken Hearted" and "Rome" were released as singles. In 2006, Virgin Records released the album in all European countries. For this release, the album was remixed and supplemented with the song "Wrong", a single from the previous album ''Novastar'', which preceded the other songs. Background Singer and pianist Joost Zweegers intended to record the album in the United States, but unhappy with the way he was pushed to produce hits, he returned to Belgium. Piet Goddaer (born 29 April 1970 in Kortrijk) is a Belgian musician, better known by his stage name Ozark Henry. , he has released nine studio albums under the name Ozark Henry. In 2001, he released the album ''To All Our Escapes'' under the name Sunzoo Manley, a collaboration with Frank Deruytter.
