Zamu Music Awards
The Zamu Music Awards was an annual awards show in Flanders (Belgium), where the most outstanding Flemish and international musicians of the past year were honored. The Zamu Awards were founded ''ZaMu'' (''Zangers en Muzikanten''; the Flemish association of singers and musicians). ''ZaMu'' was discontinued in 2006, but the organization of the Zamu Awards was taken over by ''Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen'' (Flanders Music Center), under the name Music Industry Awards (MIA's) For most award categories, a jury of music journalists selects four nominees. The winners are voted by members of the Flemish music industry, such as musicians, managers and record labels. Exceptions are the awards for best song and best music DVD, where the votes of the public select the winner. A special award is the Lifetime Achievement Award, given each year to an artist to honor his or her complete creative career. Absynthe Minded
Absynthe Minded is a Belgian rock band, around frontman, vocalist and guitarist Bert Ostyn. Their tracks contain a mix of thirties jazz, with a touch of funky soul, Balkan beats and Merseyside pop. Absynthe Minded originally was a one-man band, being musician-singer-composer Bert Ostyn. He started off in 1999 with recording ''More Than This'' on 8-track in a 5 to 4 bedroom in Ghent, Belgium, with songs in a moderate rock genre. The opportunity to record some material in a studio brought forth ''Mushroom Holiday'' (2000). On that demo other musicians collaborated with Ostyn for the first time, which led later on to the forming of a band called Tao Tse Tse. Stash (band)
Stash (formerly Stache) is a Belgian music band that out of almost nowhere scored a monster hit in Flanders with the title "Sadness" in 2004–2005. The hit single broke the records of the hit list of the VRT, the Ultratop by being both the longest present track in the top 10 as well as the longest present track in the entire Ultratop 75. In the videoclip "Sadness", several famous Flemish musical artists appear, like Axl Peleman, Guy Swinnen, Luc De Vos and Walter Grootaers. In the clip of "Shelter from Evil Ones", the mothers of the four band members play music as well. In the summer of 2005, they could be seen at Rock Werchter and Marktrock, among others. Zita Swoon
Zita Swoon is a Belgian indie rock group. They entered the music scene of Antwerp in 1993, still under the name A Beatband with the EP ''Jintro Travels The Word In A Skirt''. The group is typical of the music scene in Antwerp, with members playing in numerous other groups. The best known member is singer, musician and composer Stef Kamil Carlens, who founded the group together with Aarich Jespers and also played in dEUS. The same group released ''Everyday I Wear A Greasy Black Feather On My Hat'' under the name Moondog Jr. in 1995. Shortly thereafter they encountered legal trouble over the name Moondog with Louis T. Natalia Willy Druyts (born 3 December 1980), known mononymously as Natalia, is a Belgian singer. She became known in Flanders during the VTM program ''Idool 2003'', in which she finished in second place. She is currently a coach in Flemish TV-programs ''The Voice van Vlaanderen'', ''The Voice Kids'' and '' The Voice Senior''. Early life and career Natalia was born on 3 December 1980 in Geel, Belgium. Clouseau is a Belgian pop music, pop group, having success in Belgium and the Netherlands since being established in the late 1980s. Apart from a brush with English material in the early 1990s they perform in Dutch language, Dutch. Novastar
Novastar is a Belgian rock band led by Dutch-born singer-songwriter and guitarist/pianist Joost Zweegers. They are known for their emotional ballads, and the high pitch of Zweegers's voice. ''Pocket Revolution'' is the fourth studio album by dEUS, released in 2005. The cover art is based on ''The Von Neumann-Machine'', a story from Don Lawrence's ''Storm'' series of graphic novels. ''Pocket Revolution'' was the first dEUS studio album to be released in six years, since ''The Ideal Crash'' in 1999. The band featuring Craig Ward and Danny Mommens disintegrated during its recording. Ward, who was supposed to produce the record, left the band in August 2004, soon followed by Mommens.
