Jon Dunwell
Jon Dunwell is an American politician serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 38th district. In October 2021, Dunwell was elected in a special election to succeed Wes Breckenridge. Dunwell's win on October 12, 2021, over Newton City Councilman Steve Mullan flipped the 29th Iowa House district seat to Republican from Democrat in the special election. Background Prior to entering politics, Dunwell worked as a pastor in Orlando, Florida and Minnesota. He also worked as the vice president of two financial services firms. He later relocated to his wife's hometown of Newton, Iowa. Brian Meyer (born 1973) is an American lawyer and politician from the state of Iowa. A member of the Democratic Party, Meyer serves in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 29th district. He previously served on the Des Moines, Iowa City Council. Early career Meyer was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, the University of Northern Iowa and Drake University Law School. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He served as an assistant Iowa attorney general and assistant Polk County attorney. He was elected to the Des Moines City Council in 2007. Garrett Gobble (born May 2, 1995) is an American politician and educator who served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 38th district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021 and served until January 8, 2023. Early life and education Gobble was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. After graduating from Southeastern Community College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Iowa in 2017. Career After graduating from college, Gobble moved to Iowa City, Iowa and worked as a substitute teacher and as a clerk at Hy-Vee.
