''Jol Nupur'' was a Bengali television serial which aired on Bengali GEC Star Jalsha by Magic Moments Motion Pictures. This is the second serial in Star Jalsha by Magic Moments Motion Pictures after ''Ishti'' ''Kutum'' and the third longest running among all the serials produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures, preceded by ''Ishti'' ''Kutum'' in Star Jalsha followed by ''Binni'' ''Dhaner'' ''Khoi'' in ETV Bangla. The show was telecast at Mon - Sat 9:30 p.m. ''Jol Nupur'' replaced ''Sansaar Sukher Hoy Romonir Guney'' from 21 January 2013. Sabitri Chatterjee (born 22 February 1937) is an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali theatre and cinema. Her career spans more than 60 years. She is the recipient of BFJA Awards for two times. In 1999, she was conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting in Bengali theatre. Pijush Ganguly (2 January 1965 – 25 October 2015) was a noted Bengali film, television and theater actor. In 2005 he received the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in ''Mahulbanir Sereng''. Devdasi
In India, a devadasi was a female artist who was dedicated to the worship and service of a deity or a temple for the rest of her life. The dedication took place in a ceremony that was somewhat similar to a marriage ceremony. In addition to taking care of the temple and performing rituals, these women also learned and practiced classical Indian artistic traditions such as Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi.
