Paul le Page Barnett (22 November 1949 – 3 February 2020), known by the pen name of John Grant, was a Scottish writer and editor of science fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction. Biography Born Paul le Page Barnett in Aberdeen, Scotland, Grant has sometimes written under his own name (Paul Barnett), as Eve Devereux, and under various other pseudonyms; he has also ghostwritten a number of books. John Grant (Scottish Footballer)
John Grant (16 June 1931 – 28 January 2021) was a Scottish professional footballer, who played for Hibernian, Raith Rovers and the Scotland national team. Grant signed for Hibs in 1949, but had to wait until 1954 to make his league debut due to the strength of the Hibs side in the early 1950s. Hibs won the league championship in 1951 and 1952, and were denied a third successive championship in 1953 on goal average. Grant was a stalwart of the Hibs side for the following decade, but he was released by Jock Stein in 1964. Grant played for Raith Rovers for a further season before retiring from the game. Grant played for Scotland twice, against Northern Ireland and Wales during the 1959 British Home Championship. John David Grant (born June 28, 1950) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL), playing seven seasons with the Denver Broncos. Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Grant graduated from its Capital High School and played college football at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles under head coach John McKay. In his senior season in 1972, the Trojans were undefeated and consensus national champions. Grant was first-team All-Pac-8 in 1971 and 1972, and a first-team All-American in 1972. Sir John Peter Grant, GCMG, KCB, (28 November 1807 – 6 January 1893), was a British colonial administrator who served as Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal (1859–1862) and as Governor of Jamaica. Life John Peter Grant was born in London on 28 November 1807. His parents were the similarly named John Peter Grant, who came from Rothiemurchus, Inverness-shire, and his wife, Jane, a daughter of William Ironside from Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham. Grant was educated at Eton College from 1819, spent some time at Edinburgh University and then, in 1827, became a student at the East India College in Haileybury. He joined the Bengal Civil Service in the following year and spent some time at Fort William College in Calcutta before being appointed as an assistant magistrate in Bareilly. John Peter Grant, 13th Earl of Dysart (born 22 October 1946), styled Lord Huntingtower from 2003 to 2011, also known as Johnnie Grant, is a Scottish peer and landowner. Together with his son James, he is responsible for Rothiemurchus, in the Scottish Highlands, including part of Rothiemurchus Forest and Braeriach, which at 4252 ft (1296 m) is the third highest mountain in Britain. John Peter Grant (21 September 1774 – 17 May 1848) was a Scottish politician from Inverness-shire who sat in the House of Commons for English constituencies between 1812 and 1826. Life John Peter Grant was born in 1774. Educated at Edinburgh High School and Edinburgh University, he was a Member of Parliament (MP for Great Grimsby from 1812 to 1818, then for Tavistock from 1819 to 1826. John James "Jim" Grant (born January 17, 1936) is a Canadian politician and soldier who served as the 32nd Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Early life and education Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Grant attended Mount Allison University, graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Economics. He is a registered industrial accountant. John Bramwell Grant (born 1954) is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal National Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 2012 to 2015, representing the electorate of Springwood. Grant was born in Brisbane, and operated his own building design and drafting company before entering politics. He was elected to the Logan City council in 1997, and was deputy mayor from 2004 to 2008. He was narrowly defeated at the 2008 council elections by Aidan McLindon, but regained his council seat in 2009 upon McLindon's election to parliament. He contested Woodridge as an independent at the 2001 state election, polling 10.9% of the vote. Grant joined the Liberal National Party in October 2010, citing dissatisfaction with the Labor government's water policy.
