Johan Siebke
Johan Siebke (17 June 1781 – 14 August 1857) was a Norwegian botanical gardener. Siebke grew up in Schleswig-Holstein. He was a student and apprentice gardener at the University of Copenhagen Botanical Garden. University Botanical Garden (Oslo)
The University Botanical Garden (''Botanisk hage'') is Norway's oldest botanical garden. It was first established in 1814 and is administrated by the University of Oslo. It is situated in the neighborhood of Tøyen in Oslo, Norway. Tøyen Manor The Tøyen estate is rich in history, and the main wing is probably the oldest wooden building in greater Oslo. ''Tøyen i Aker'' was originally an estate owned by the Nonneseter Abbey. Norway's Chancellor Jens Bjelke acquired the property about 1640. King Frederik VI of Denmark later acquired the estate and subsequently gifted the property to the University of Christiania in 1812. In 1814, work began on the University Botanical Garden. The University of Copenhagen Botanical Garden ( da, Botanisk have), usually referred to simply as Copenhagen Botanical Garden, is a botanical garden located in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers an area of 10 hectares and is particularly noted for its extensive complex of historical glasshouses dating from 1874. The garden is part of the Natural History Museum of Denmark, which is itself part of the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Science. It serves both research, educational and recreational purposes. Tøyen
Tøyen is a residential area in the central parts of Oslo, Norway, part of the borough of Gamle Oslo. Location There are two different stations which carry the name Tøyen. Tøyen Railway Station is located on the Gjøvik Line, while Tøyen T-bane Station on the shared stretch just east of the downtown area. The railway station is about 750 metres northeast of the subway station. Above the Tøyen subway station is a shopping centre. Apart from the Munch Museum, there is a park north of the subway station with botanical gardens and paleontological, geological and zoological museums. Tøyen has been associated with social problems such as poverty associated with the high number of immigrants to Norway living there.
