Johan Koren Christie (writer)
Johan Koren Christie (31 May 1814 – 17 May 1885) was a Norwegian writer. He was a notable nationalist writer in the middle of the nineteenth century. He was born in Kristiansund, the son of customs officer and politician Edvard Eilert Christie (1773–1831). He was a grandnephew of Werner Hosewinckel Christie, nephew of politician Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, a first cousin of architect Christian Christie, politician Hans Langsted Christie and physicist Hartvig Caspar Christie, and a granduncle of politician Hartvig Caspar Christie. He was a second cousin of female politician pioneer Sara Stockfleth Christie. He finished his secondary education at Bergen Cathedral School in 1834, enrolled in law studies but left after three years, then worked as a private teacher before graduating with the cand.theol. degree in 1842. Kristiansund (, ; historically spelled Christianssund and earlier named Fosna) is a municipality on the western coast of Norway in the Nordmøre district of Møre og Romsdal county. The administrative center of the municipality is the town of Kristiansund (established in 1742), which is the major town for the whole Nordmøre region. Other notable settlements in the municipality include the villages of Kvalvåg, Rensvik, and Nedre Frei. The municipality is the 333rd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Ludvig Kristensen Daa
Ludvig Kristensen Daa (19 August 1809 – 12 June 1877) was a Norwegian historian, ethnologist, auditor, editor of magazines and newspapers, educator and politician. Background He was born as Ludvig Christensen Daae in Saltdal to vicar Christen Daae (1776–1854) and Elisabeth Marie Friis (1785–1865). The family moved to Jølster in 1817. At the age of thirteen, Daa started at the Bergen Cathedral School and took the examen artium later as a private candidate. After a period as a private teacher in Christian Krohg's family in 1828 he enrolled at the Royal Frederick University. Here he was a leader in the Norwegian Students' Society, and sided with Henrik Wergeland in the dispute with Johan Sebastian Welhaven. Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson ( , ; 8 December 1832 – 26 April 1910) was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit". The first Norwegian Nobel laureate, he was a prolific polemicist and extremely influential in Norwegian public life and Scandinavian cultural debate. Norwegian Students' Society ( no, Det Norske Studentersamfund) is Norway's oldest student society. The Norwegian Students' Society was established during 1813 in Oslo, Norway. Two years after the Royal Frederick University (today named the University of Oslo) was founded, 18 of the 19 students formed the Norwegian Students' Society. It has been the centre of debate, culture and politics for over 200 years. The idea was to make a social, intellectual and cultural arena for the students in Norway's capital.
