The Jodphur House is the former residence of the Maharaja of Jodhpur in Delhi. As of April 4, 2020, travel was restricted in this region due to Covid-19. It is located on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road. It is used by the Ministry of Defence (India). Maharaja Of Jodhpur
Kingdom of Marwar, also known as the Jodhpur State under the British, was a kingdom in the Marwar region from 1226 to 1818 and a princely state under British rule from 1818 to 1947. It was established in Pali by Rao Siha, possibly a migrant Gahadavala noble, in 1243. His successors continued to struggle against regional powers for domination and 9 out of 15 rulers till 1438 died in combat. In 1395, its capital was changed to Mandore by Rao Chunda and to Jodhpur in 1459 by Rao Jodha. The kingdom remained independent until it was annexed by the Mughal Empire in 1581 after the death of Chandrasen Rathore. It remained under direct Mughal control until Udai Singh was restored to the throne as a vassal and given the title of Raja in 1583. During the late 17th century it was under the strict control of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, but the ruling house of Rathore was allowed to remain semi-autonomous in their territory. Hyderabad House
Hyderabad House is an official residence in New Delhi, India. It is the State Guest House of the Prime Minister of India. It is used by the Government of India for banquets, and as a venue for meetings with visiting foreign dignitaries. It was designed by British architect Edwin Lutyens as a residence for Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad. Bikaner House
Bikaner House is the former residence of the Maharajah of Bikaner State in New Delhi. It is located close to India Gate. History After the British Raj set up the Chamber of Princes, the rulers needed a residence in the capital city. A number of palaces were constructed in New Delhi, at the coveted Princes’ Park. Around the statue of King George V are the Hyderabad House, Baroda House, Patiala House, Jaipur House,Darbhanga House and Bikaner. It was designed by Charles G Blomfield. After independence it was bought by the state government of Rajasthan. It was renovated in 2014–15 to be used as a space for arts and culture. Architecture It is spread over an 8-acre plot in Lutyens' Delhi. Among all the princely residences, Bikaner House was the least grand in design, as it was more like a bungalow than a palace. Baroda House
Baroda House was the residence of the Maharaja of Baroda in Delhi. It is located on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, next to Faridkot House. History It was designed by the architect of New Delhi, Sir Edwin Lutyens. He designed the house on a train and it took 15 years to complete in 1936. Presently it is being used as the Zonal Headquarters Office of Northern Railways. Jaipur House
Jaipur House is the former residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur in the city of New Delhi, India. It is situated at the end of Rajpath, facing the India Gate. History It was designed by Charles Blomfield, after construction of Lutyens' Delhi, in 1936. Today it houses the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), India's premier art gallery which was established here by Ministry of Culture in 1954. Architecture The structure has a butterfly layout and a central dome. The structure is clad in red and yellow sandstone. To the back of the palace is a large garden, which can be entered through the main ballroom on the ground floor. The ballroom is paneled in dark wood. Inside is the main hall underneath the central dome, with a large spiral staircase leading to the upper floor. Patiala House
The Patiala House is the former residence of the Maharaja of Patiala in Delhi. It is situated near India Gate in central Delhi, India. History It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The building has a central dome with a "butterfly" layout, similar to other Lutyens’ buildings. Unlike some of the princely residences in Delhi, the Patiala House is not clad in sandstone but painted white. When prime minister Indira Gandhi abolished the privy purses of the royals in the 1970s, the royal family sold it to the Indian government. It has been used by District Courts of India as one of its five courts in Delhi and is known as the Patiala House Courts Complex, which has seen numerous extensions and changes that have altered the original appearance of the palace.
