Joanna Mytkowska
Joanna Mytkowska (1970) is a Polish curator and art critic. She has been the director of the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw since 2007. She is the co-founder of the Foksal Gallery Foundation, which since 2001 has been operating independently from the Foksal Gallery. Life and work Joanna Mytkowska studied at the University of Warsaw from 1988 to 1994. She was the curator of the Artur Żmijewski exhibition at the Polish Pavilion during the 51st Venice Biennale (2005). She organized the following exhibits for the Centre Georges Pompidou: Paweł Althamer (2006), The Magellanic Cloud (2007), The Anxious (2008) and Promises of the Past (2010). Curator
A curator (from la, cura, meaning "to take care") is a manager or overseer. When working with cultural organizations, a curator is typically a "collections curator" or an "exhibitions curator", and has multifaceted tasks dependent on the particular institution and its mission. In recent years the role of curator has evolved alongside the changing role of museums, and the term "curator" may designate the head of any given division. Documenta 14
documenta 14 was the fourteenth edition of the art exhibition documenta and took place in 2017 in both Kassel, Germany, its traditional home, and Athens, Greece. It was held first in Athens from 8 April to 16 July, and in Kassel from 10 June to 17 September 2017. As part of the concept of the artistic director Adam Szymczyk, the exhibition proceeded in both countries with most featured artists working at both locations. The documenta is a series of contemporary art exhibitions. It takes place every five years (originally every four years) and lasts 100 days each; It is therefore also referred to as a museum of 100 days. Igor Zabel
Igor Zabel (14 August 1958 – 23 July 2005) was a Slovene art historian, curator, and essayist. He was curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana and one of the most prominent writers on modern and contemporary art in Slovenia. In 2007 he was posthumously awarded the Rožanc Award for his essays on Modern and Contemporary Art. ''The Igor Zabel Association for Culture and Theory'' and its ''Igor Zabel Award'' carry his name, in the memory of his work. Life Zabel was born in Ljubljana. He graduated in Philosophy, History of Art, and Comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana in 1982. In 1989, he received his master's degree from the same university. Paweł Althamer
Paweł Althamer (born 12 May 1967, Warsaw) is a Polish contemporary sculptor, performer, collaborative artist and creator of installations, and video art. Life and work In the years 1988-1993, he studied sculpture at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Since the mid-1990s, he has been collaborating with the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw. In 2000, he participated in Manifesta 3 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2004, he won the Vincent Award from the Broere Charitable Foundation in the Netherlands. In 2007, he presented the exhibition ''One of many'' with the Nicola Trussardi Foundation. His longest-running collaboration is with the Nowolipie Group, an organisation in Warsaw for adults with mental or physical disabilities, to whom he has been teaching a Friday night ceramics class since the early 1990s. An art critic is a person who is specialized in analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating art. Their written critiques or reviews contribute to art criticism and they are published in newspapers, magazines, books, exhibition brochures, and catalogues and on websites. Some of today's art critics use art blogs and other online platforms in order to connect with a wider audience and expand debate about art.
