Jimmy Macbride
Jimmy Macbride (born May 10, 1991) is an American jazz drummer and composer. He is the older brother of jazz pianist, composer and film maker Alma Macbride. Biography Raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, Macbride grew up in an artistic family—his father a composer of classical music and his mother a visual artist. He developed an early interest in jazz from listening to his parents' cassettes of Frank Sinatra and began to perform professionally while in the third grade. He later attended Hall High School where he participated in the school's award-winning jazz program and has since been cited among its notable alumni (including pianist Brad Mehldau, saxophonists Joel Frahm and Noah Preminger, and composer Patrick Zimmerli). In 2009, he relocated to New York City to study at the Juilliard School. Hartford is the capital city of the U.S. state of Connecticut. It was the seat of Hartford County until Connecticut disbanded county government in 1960. Steven Feifke (born June 21, 1991) is an American jazz pianist, composer, orchestrator, and arranger. Early life and education Feifke was born in Lexington, Massachusetts. He attended Lexington High School and the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School. He attended NYU where he received a degree in Jazz Studies and Economics. He obtained a Master of Music in Jazz Composition from the Manhattan School of Music. Musical career He has played with Chad Lefkowitz Brown, Steve Tyrell, Santino Fontana, Randy Brecker, Benny Benack III, Bryan Carter, and Alexa Tarantino. Feifke lectured on orchestration and harmony at Yale University. He developed a curriculum which integrated the American civil rights movement with jazz pedagogy for Arts Mid-Hudson. Roxy Coss is a saxophonist, activist and composer based in New York. She is the winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award and has attracted attention from major music magazines and organizations. Background Originally from Seattle, Coss is one of only a few female band leaders in the Jazz field. By the age of six or seven, she was taking piano lessons and composing music. Alex Goodman is a Canadian jazz guitarist. Biography A native of Toronto, Canada, Goodman initially attended McGill University as a political science major. He later opted to return to Toronto to study music at the University of Toronto before relocating to New York City to complete a Master's degree at Manhattan School of Music. In 2013, Goodman received a nomination for Canada's Juno Award for Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year. Luke Sellick (born August 31, 1990) is a Canadian jazz bassist, composer, and bandleader. Biography A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sellick completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba.
