Alex Goodman
Alex Goodman is a Canadian jazz guitarist. Biography A native of Toronto, Canada, Goodman initially attended McGill University as a political science major. He later opted to return to Toronto to study music at the University of Toronto before relocating to New York City to complete a Master's degree at Manhattan School of Music. In 2013, Goodman received a nomination for Canada's Juno Award for Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year. The album, ''Bridges'', featured original music by Goodman as well as arrangements of compositions by Béla Bartók and Frédéric Chopin. He also received the 2013 ASCAP Herb Alpert Jazz Composer Award. In July 2014, Goodman became the first Canadian to win both first prize and the Public's Choice Award at the prestigious SOCAR Montreux International Jazz Guitar Competition. Jazz Standard (jazz Club)
Jazz Standard was a jazz club located at 116 East 27th Street in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It frequently hosted well-known bands and musicians. The club was owned by restaurateur Danny Meyer and was located in the basement of one of his Blue Smoke restaurants. The Mingus Big Band, the Mingus Orchestra, and Mingus Dynasty rotated every Monday night as the club's de facto house bands. The former won the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for their album Live at Jazz Standard. The Maria Schneider Orchestra played a week-long gig at the club every Thanksgiving from 2005 to 2019. The magazine ''New York'' listed the club as a ″top 5 jazz joint″. ''The New York City Jazz Record'' named Jazz Standard the "venue of the year" 2017. Tim Ries
Timothy M. Ries (born 15 August 1959) is an American saxophonist, composer, arranger, band leader, and music educator at the collegiate/conservatory level. Ries is in his year as a professor of jazz studies at the University of Toronto. His universe of work as composer, arranger, and instrumentalist ranges from rock to jazz to classical to experimental to ethno to fusions of respective genres thereof. San Fermin (band)
San Fermin is an American indie rock collective, led by Brooklyn-based composer and songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone. Known for combining indie rock, pop, and classical influences into lush compositions, they released their self-titled debut album on Downtown Records in 2013. Chad LB (born September 8, 1989) is a New York-based saxophonist and recording artist recognized for his work as a soloist in the genres of jazz and pop music. He was a member of the multi Grammy winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra (ALJO) and has toured with popular music icon Taylor Swift. Known for his virtuosic skill and speed and intricate lines as a jazz improviser, he is also an educator and is on faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory as a visiting artist for The Roots, Jazz and American Music program. Dan Tepfer (born 1982 in Paris, France) is a French-American jazz pianist and composer. He is best known for his 2011 album ''Goldberg Variations/Variations'' and his 2019 multimedia project ''Natural Machines''. Rich Perry is an American jazz tenor saxophonist from Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio. Perry attended Bowling Green State University for a year before moving to New York. He toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1975 and with The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra the following year. He has also played with Chet Baker, Paul Bley, Machito, Bob Moses (musician), Bob Moses, Jack McDuff, Billy Hart, Eddie Gómez, Tom Harrell, and Harold Danko.
