Jidwaq
The Jidwaq ( so, Jidwaaq, ar, جيدواق) is a large Somali people, Somali clan, part of one of the largest Somalis, Somali clans families, the Absame Darod. Overview The Jidwaq clan primarily inhabit the Somali Region of Ethiopia, (where they live in the Jijiga, Jigjiga area), the North Eastern Province (Kenya), North Eastern Province of Kenya and the Jubaland region of southern Somalia (where they live south of Bu'ale). The name ''Jidwaaq'' means "the path of God" in the Somali language, Somali language. According to the UNHCR, the Jidwaq in the Somali region of Ethiopia are mostly agro-pastoralists. They often engage in agriculture but also raise livestock. The Somali Region ( so, Deegaanka Soomaalida, am, ሱማሌ ክልል, Sumalē Kilil, ar, المنطقة الصومالية), also known as Soomaali Galbeed (''Western Somalia'') and officially the Somali Regional State, is a regional state in eastern Ethiopia. Hawo Tako (died 1948) was a prominent Somali activist. Jijiga Airport
Wilwal International Airport (also known as Garaad Wiil-Waal Airport) is an airport serving Jijiga, the capital city of the Somali Region in Ethiopia. The airport is located at , which is east of the city. It is named after nineteenth century jigjiga ruler Garad Wiil-Waal. Jijiga's original airfield is located northwest of the city center at . An airplane crash at Jijiga in July 1930 involved the eighth or ninth aircraft introduced to Ethiopia; it was the second airplane disaster in the country. Garad ( Harari: ገራድ, , , Oromo: ''Garaada'') is a term used to refer to a clan leader or regional administrator. It was used primarily by Muslims in the Horn of Africa that were associated with Islamic states, most notably the Adal Sultanate. Etymology The origin of the term ''Garad'' is uncertain. According to Enrico Cerulli, Garad originates from the era of the Adal emirate. Garad denotes a headman within a ''"Gaar"'' (clan). In the Somali language ''Garad'' roughly translates to "chief" or "wise man", as well as "wisdom". Garad also denotes a ''"chief"'' in Harari and Silt'e languages respectively. Abaskuul
The Abaskuul, Abasguul, Abasgul or Abaskul (Somali: ''Abasguul'', ''Abaskuul''. Arabic: ابسغول) is a Somali sub-clan of the Jidwaaq, Absame, Kumade, Kablalah, Darod line. The Abaskuul mainly reside between Jigjiga and Degahbur in the Somali Region in Ethiopia, but also have settlements in Jubaland (Somalia) and Kenya. They share borders with the Ogaden, Bartire, and Habar Awal clans. Absame
The Darod ( so, Daarood, ar, دارود) is a Somali clan. The forefather of this clan was Sheikh Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, more commonly known as ''Darood''.
