Jean-Yves Raimbaud
Jean-Yves Stephane Marcel Raimbaud (27 February 1958 – 28 June 1998) was a French people, French animator and screenwriter. He is best known for creating the animated series, ''Oggy and the Cockroaches'' that officially debuted posthumously on 6 September 1998, on France 3. He also co-created ''Space Goofs'' with Philippe Traversat, the first show he made co-produced by Gaumont Multimedia and Xilam. Raimbaud died in June 1998, having had lung cancer for some time. Early life Raimbaud was born on 27 February 1958, in Évreux, France. At age 14, he abandoned his studies in favor of training as a painter in words. Thus, he made his debut in drawing, although initially, he mainly drew billboards. Career In 1975, he joined a then-small animation studio called DIC Entertainment created by Jean Chalopin. ''Rahan'' is a French comic series about an intelligent prehistoric man, that appeared first as part of ''Pif gadget'' starting in March 1969, then published in albums of 2 to 4 complete stories. It was initially written by Roger Lecureux, and after his death in 1999, by Lecureux's son. ''Rahan'' has over 100 stories and lasted for 30 years. The comics' illustrations are mainly drawn by André Chéret. Other artists who also contributed were Romero, Guy Zam and José de Huescar . ''Lucky Luke'' is a Western ''bande dessinée'' series created by Belgian cartoonist Morris in 1946. Morris wrote and drew the series single-handedly until 1955, after which he started collaborating with French writer René Goscinny. Their partnership lasted until Goscinny's death in 1977. Frank Margerin (born 9 January 1952, in Paris) is a Franco-Belgian comics, French author and illustrator of comics. Biography After lycée, secondary school, Margerin went to a school of applied art, where he met Denis Sire. He joined Sire's band, Los Crados, as a drummer. The band later became Dennis' Twist. In 1975, while looking for work in publishing or illustrating, Margerin met Jean-Pierre Dionnet, who ordered his first comic strip, a four-page parody, parodical science fiction story named "Simone et Léon", for the ''Métal Hurlant'' magazine. He later drew and wrote several other stories for the magazine. His first album, ''Frank Margerin présente...'', which gathered his first works for ''Métal Hurlant'', was published in 1978.
