Jay Curtis (writer)
Joseph "Jay" Curtis (April 5, 1950 – January 25, 2018) was an American author, producer, writer, director and actor. He won a Writers Guild of America award for "Outstanding script TV on-air promotion" in 2004 He is also known for being the creator, producer and star of the cult XETV program ''Disasterpiece Theatre'', co-directing ''75-0: The Documentary'', and writing two books of poetry for Lexingford Publishing chronicling his battle with ALS. Jay Curtis grew up in Verona, New Jersey attending Verona High School (New Jersey), Verona High School where he played High school football, football. During his three-year tenure as a player, the team never won a single game, even losing 75–0 to Madison High School (New Jersey), Madison High School in 1966. ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (abbreviated as ''MST3K'') is an American science fiction comedy film review television series created by Joel Hodgson. The show premiered on WUCW, KTMA-TV (now WUCW) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 24, 1988. It then moved to nationwide broadcast, first on The Comedy Channel (United States), The Comedy Channel/Comedy Central for seven seasons until its cancellation in 1996. Howard Barish is president and CEO of Kandoo Films, an Oscar nominated, Emmy award winning entertainment company known for its producing partnership with Ava DuVernay. Barish and Kandoo's most recognized project to date, ''13th'', is a 2016 American documentary from Netflix directed by DuVernay.
