Janis Mackey Frayer
Janis Mackey Frayer (born May 27, 1970) is a Canadians, Canadian journalist and a correspondent with NBC News based in Beijing, China. Previously she worked in Canada with CTV Television Network, CTV as its Asia Bureau Chief. She was the network's Middle East Bureau Chief in Jerusalem, from 2003 to 2009 and South Asia Bureau Chief in New Delhi, India from 2009 to 2013. Mackey Frayer holds a master's degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. She studied international relations and French language, French at the University of Toronto. Her career began at CFOS Radio in Owen Sound, Ontario, and at age 19 she worked at YTV (TV channel), YTV. She was later a financial news anchor with BNN and wrote a regular business column for The Globe and Mail newspaper. She is married to photojournalist Kevin Frayer and they have one son. Owen Sound, Ontario
Owen Sound ( 2021 Census population 21,612) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The county seat of Grey County, it is located at the mouths of the Pottawatomi and Sydenham Rivers on an inlet of Georgian Bay. The primary tourist attractions are the many waterfalls within a short drive of the town. History The area around the upper Great Lakes has been home to the Ojibwe people since prehistory. In 1815, William Fitzwilliam Owen surveyed the area and named the inlet after his older brother Admiral Edward Owen. The name of the area in Ojibwe language is ''Gchi-wiigwedong''. A settlement called "Sydenham" was established in 1840 or 1841 by Charles Rankin in an area that had been inhabited by First Nations people. John Telfer settled here at that time and others followed. The Gemini Awards were awards given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television between 1986–2011 to recognize the achievements of Canada's television industry. The Gemini Awards are analogous to the Emmy Awards given in the United States and the BAFTA Television Awards in the United Kingdom.
