Jan Korte (politician)
Jan Korte (born 5 April 1977) is a German politician. Born in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, he represents The Left. Jan Korte has served as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Saxony-Anhalt since 2005. Life After graduating from the Gymnasium Oesede in Georgsmarienhütte in 1997, Korte first completed his civilian service and in 1999 began studying political science, sociology and history at the University of Hanover, which he completed in 2005 as Magister Artium (M.A.). He became member of the bundestag after the 2005 German federal election. He is a member of the Committee on the Verification of Credentials, Immunities and Rules of Procedure. In his group he is the 1st Parliamentary Secretary. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag. The members of the Bundestag are representatives of the German people as a whole, are not bound by any orders or instructions and are only accountable to their electorate. List Of Members Of The 20th Bundestag
This is a list of members of the 20th and current Bundestag, the federal parliament of Germany. The 20th Bundestag was elected in the 26 September 2021 federal election, and was constituted in its first session on 26 October 2021. The 20th Bundestag is the largest in history with 736 members, 138 seats larger than its minimum size of 598. Originally, it comprised 206 members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), 197 members of the CDU/CSU, 118 members of Alliance 90/The Greens (GRÜNE), 92 members of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), 83 members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), and 39 members of The Left (LINKE), as well as one member of the South Schleswig Voters' Association, who sits as a non-attached member. 2005 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in Germany on 18 September 2005 to elect the members of the 16th Bundestag. The snap election was called after the government's defeat in a state election, which caused them to intentionally lose a motion of confidence to trigger an early federal election. Saxony-Anhalt (german: Sachsen-Anhalt ; nds, Sassen-Anholt) is a state of Germany, bordering the states of Brandenburg, Saxony, Thuringia and Lower Saxony.
