Jamie Gonoud
Jamie Gonoud (born 1992/1993) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Tyrrellspass and at senior level for the Westmeath county team. He plays as a corner-back. He made his first championship appearance with Westmeath in 2013 but really nailed down a place in the Westmeath team when Westmeath reached the final of 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship. He received a black card against Laois in the 2021 Leinster Senior Football Championship. Kildare defeated Westmeath in the 2022 Leinster Senior Football Championship but Gonoud scored a goal and was named on the team of the week, the only Westmeath player included. Gonoud was part of the Westmeath side that won the 2022 Tailteann Cup, playing in the final. At college level, he was captain of Maynooth in the Sigerson Cup. Tyrrellspass GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Tyrrellspass in County Westmeath, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. History The team was founded in 1961 and participates in both men's and women's leagues. The team won the Westmeath Senior Football Championship in 1999, 2006 and defended their title in 2007. In the 2007 Leinster Club Football Championship they progressed as far as the final, where they were beaten by the eventual All Ireland Club champions St Vincents GAA, St. Vincents of Dublin. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship
The 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship was the 2016 installment of the annual Leinster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Leinster GAA. The competition ran from 14 May 2016 to 17 July 2016. Dublin came into the competition as the defending champions, having won their 54th title and completed a 5-in-a-row the previous season. The draw for the championship was made on 16 October 2015. As in the previous two seasons, the two sides were named as A and B, to allow for teams to more easily predict the dates of their qualifier matches. Carlow, Dublin, Laois, Louth, Meath and Wicklow were named to the A side, with Kildare, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath and Wexford on the B side. The 2022 Tailteann Cup was the inaugural edition of the Tailteann Cup and is the second-tier of Gaelic football for senior county teams (the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship is the first-tier trophy). It was contested by up to sixteen teams from Divisions 3 and 4 of the 2022 National Football League plus New York. Division 3 or 4 teams initially competed in their provincial championship and if they reached their provincial final, they continued in the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, progressing to the All-Ireland Qualifiers, whereas if they were beaten in their provincial final, they did not participate in the 2022 Tailteann Cup. A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain.
