2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship
The 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship was the 2016 installment of the annual Leinster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Leinster GAA. The competition ran from 14 May 2016 to 17 July 2016. Dublin came into the competition as the defending champions, having won their 54th title and completed a 5-in-a-row the previous season. The draw for the championship was made on 16 October 2015. As in the previous two seasons, the two sides were named as A and B, to allow for teams to more easily predict the dates of their qualifier matches. Carlow, Dublin, Laois, Louth, Meath and Wicklow were named to the A side, with Kildare, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath and Wexford on the B side. The final was a replay of the previous year's decider, with Dublin facing Westmeath. Dublin won 2-19 to 0-10 in the final at Croke Park, the county's first six-in-a-row since the 1970s. Jim Gavin (footballer)
Jim Gavin (born 1 July 1971) is an Irish List of Gaelic football managers, Gaelic football manager and former Gaelic football, player. He was the manager of the senior Dublin county football team, Dublin county team from 2012 to 2019, becoming the county's most successful manager in terms of major titles won. Gavin is regarded as one of the best Manager (Gaelic games), managers in the modern game. Gavin was introduced to Gaelic football by his father, a native of County Clare, Clare and former chairman of the local club team in Clondalkin. He developed his skills in the local street leagues before winning a record six Cumann na mBunscoil medals as a dual player with Clonburris National School. Offaly County Football Team
The Offaly county football team represents Offaly in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Offaly GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. The 2015 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 128th edition of the Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football since its establishment in 1887. 33 teams took part − 31 Counties of Ireland, counties of Ireland (excluding Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny), London GAA, London and New York GAA, New York. A county is a geographic region within Gaelic games, controlled by a county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and originally based on the 32 counties of Ireland as they were in 1884. While the administrative geography of Ireland has since changed, with several new counties created and the six that make up Northern Ireland superseded by 11 local government districts, the counties in Gaelic games have remained largely unchanged.
