James Leslie (bishop)
James Leslie was an eighteenth-century Anglican bishop in Ireland. Leslie was born in 1706 at Tarbert, County Kerry, son of James Leslie and Sarah Kelly, and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was Curate at Swords then Perpetual curate at St Nicholas Within, Dublin and finally Rector of Lamesley. James Leslie (Canadian Politician)
James Leslie (4 September 1786 – 6 December 1873) was a Canadian businessman and political figure. He was named to the Senate of Canada for Alma division in 1867 and died in office. He was born in Kair, Kincardineshire, Scotland, the son of James Leslie, his father was an assistant quartermaster in the British Army who served with General Wolfe at Quebec City in 1759. He studied at Marischal College and the University of Aberdeen and came to Lower Canada in 1804. Leslie owned a food wholesale company in Montreal. He was a member of the local militia and served during the War of 1812; he later became lieutenant-colonel. He helped form the Bank of Montreal and served as a director from 1817 to 1829. He owned the seigneuries of Bourchemin, Ramesay and Lake Matapédia. He represented Montreal East in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1824 to 1838. James Leslie FRSE (25 September 1801–29 December 1889) was a Scottish civil engineer specialising in docks, harbours bridges and reservoirs, largely on the east coast of Scotland. He was also an amateur meteorologist. Life He was born in Largo, Fife on 25 September 1801 the son of Archibald Leslie, an architect-builder, and attended school both in Largo and nearby in Newburn. He was then sent to Benjamin Mackay’s Latin Academy in Edinburgh and from there to the University of Edinburgh to study maths and physics under his uncle, Professor John Leslie. In 1818 he was articled to William Henry Playfair as an architect, but in 1824 he left this position to pursue engineering. He obtained a place with James Rennie working in the London Docks and on the London Bridge project. In 1828 he returned to Edinburgh to take a job as Resident Engineer in Leith Docks. James Leslie (British Politician)
James Seymour Leslie (1 March 1958 – 22 February 2009) was a Unionist politician in Northern Ireland. Born in Singida, Tanganyika Territory, and educated at Eton College, Leslie read law and land economy at Queens' College, Cambridge, before becoming a merchant banker. In 1996 he was an unsuccessful candidate in the Northern Ireland Forum election in North Antrim. Despite having no experience in politics, he was elected as an Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for North Antrim in 1998. Leslie did not stand in the 2003 Assembly election. In 2006, he resigned from the UUP and joined the Conservatives in Northern Ireland. In the same year, he was appointed High Sheriff of Antrim. Leslie stood for the Conservatives in North Down at the 2007 Assembly election, but was not elected. He died aged 50 on 22 February 2009, of a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Costa Rica.

James Graham Leslie (14 November 1868 – 16 May 1949) was a unionist politician in Northern Ireland. He was born the son of Seymour and Louisa (née Graham) Leslie. His father worked in the Probate Office, London. He inherited the family seat at Leslie Hill, Ballymoney, County Antrim from his uncle. He was appointed High Sheriff of Antrim in 1907. Leslie studied at Gray's Inn and briefly went into the law, before joining the Contract Department of the British Foreign Office.John F. James S. Leslie (October 27, 1937 – July 9, 1976), known as Jim Leslie, was a journalist for ''The Shreveport Times'' who became a public relations and advertising executive in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. He is known for having been murdered in Baton Rouge on July 9, 1976, in a case described by the police as a "professional hit." George W. D'Artois, the Public Safety Commissioner in Shreveport, was twice arrested in the case; the first time he was released for lack of evidence. He was arrested again on charges of first-degree murder in April 1977, suspected of contracting for the murder of Leslie, but died in June of that year during heart surgery.
