James Heath (historian)
James Heath (1629–1664?) was an English royalist historian. Life He was a Student of Christ Church, Oxford, but deprived by Parliament. He went into exile with the future Charles II of England. On the Restoration of 1660 he was prevented from returning to his Christ Church studentship by his status as a married man, and he became a professional author. Writings Heath's ''Chronicle of the Late Intestine Warr'', published in 1661 and dedicated to General Monck, portrays events similar to those of the English Revolution to come. It took aim at John Milton and Marchamont Nedham, among other Parliamentarians, and depicted the course of events as a cyclical change, returning to the status quo. It was used by Thomas Hobbes as a basic source for his '' Behemoth''. Heath was the first biographer of Oliver Cromwell, earning himself the name “Carrion” Heath for his ''Flagellum'' (1663). James Heath (engraver)
James Heath (19 April 1757 – 15 November 1834) was a British engraver. He enjoyed the patronage of George III and successive monarchs. Life and work Heath was born in Newgate, London, the son of George Heath, a bookbinder (d. 1773). He was articled to the engraver Joseph Collyer the younger, an exacting master who required steady application from his pupil - as a result, Heath acquired a great mechanical skill in his art. His earliest engravings were of portraits in the collected edition of Horace Walpole's works. He was subsequently employed to engrave Thomas Stothard's designs for Harrison's ''The Novelist's Magazine'' and Bell's ''Poets of Great Britain'', and the taste and dexterity with which he rendered these small illustrations brought this style of illustration into great popularity. Southern Literary Messenger
The ''Southern Literary Messenger'' was a periodical published in Richmond, Virginia, from August 1834 to June 1864, and from 1939 to 1945. Each issue carried a subtitle of "Devoted to Every Department of Literature and the Fine Arts" or some variation thereof and included poetry, fiction, nonfiction, reviews, and historical notes. It was founded by Thomas Willis White, who served as publisher and occasional editor until his death, in 1843. White hired Edgar Allan Poe in 1835 as a staff writer and critic. Others involved with the periodical included Matthew Fontaine Maury and Maury's kinsman Benjamin Blake Minor. Publication ended in June 1864, in part because of Richmond's involvement in the American Civil War, and was revived from 1939–1945. Sir James Heath, 1st Baronet (26 January 1852 – 24 December 1942) was a businessman and Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. Early life James Heath was second son of Robert Heath (died 1893), a colliery and ironworks owner, of Biddulph Grange, Staffordshire. He was educated at Clifton College. Business career Heath was an ironmaster and colliery proprietor, who began as a partner in his father's company in 1873, for whom he travelled round the world twice on business. Following his father's death in 1893, he and his brother Arthur founded a limited company named Robert Heath & Sons to run the concerns, which they sold to the Low Moor Iron Company in 1910. The Reverend Horton Heat is the stage name of American musician James C. Heath (born 1959) as well as the name of his Dallas, Texas-based psychobilly trio. Heath is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. A ''Prick'' magazine reviewer called Heath the "godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly". The group formed in 1986, playing its first gigs in Dallas' Deep Ellum neighborhood. The core members are Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath on guitars and lead vocals, and Jimbo Wallace on the upright bass. Jamey Heath is a political activist in Ontario, Canada. He was the research and communications director for the New Democratic Party under Jack Layton until shortly after the 2006 federal election. Previously, he was a senior campaign worker in Jack Layton's successful campaign to win the party's leadership in 2003. Heath had earlier been communications director for Greenpeace, and was the NDP's candidate for Ottawa Centre in the 1997 federal election, placing second to the Liberal Party's Mac Harb. He has been a weekly columnist for the '' Ottawa Sun'' and ''Capital Xtra!''. Heath graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. James Joseph Heath (born 17 March 1983) is an English professional golfer. Heath was born in London. He started playing golf with his father at the age of ten. Having played in the Faldo Junior Series, he went on to a successful amateur career, highlighted by winning the English Amateur and Lytham Trophy, where he broke the previous scoring record by 10 strokes, in 2004. He turned professional at the end of that year. Having played in three tournaments on the European tour as an amateur in 2004, Heath joined the second tier Challenge Tour in 2005, and was moderately successful in his first season, finishing 23rd on the end of season rankings.
