Jal Pari (song)
''Jal Pari'' (, , ) is Atif Aslam's first solo album after he left the Pakistani rock group Jal, released on 17 July 2004. Two of his songs from the album were used by Bollywood film directors. Three songs were also selected for the Hollywood film '' Man Push Cart'' (2005). Accolades ''Jal Pari'' was declared the "Best Selling Album of the Year" for two consecutive years for 2004 and 2005 by the Pakistani newspaper ''The News International''. The song "Bheegi Yaadein" was named the Most Downloaded Pakistani Song Ever from various Pakistani music websites by ''DAWN'' newspaper. Atif Aslam
Atif Aslam is a Pakistani playback singer, songwriter, composer, and actor. He has recorded many songs in both Pakistan and India, and is known for his vocal belting technique. Aslam predominantly sings in Urdu, but has also sung in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, and Pashto. In 2008, he received the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the fourth-highest civilian honor award from the Pakistani government. He is also a recipient of several Lux Style Awards. Goher Mumtaz ( ur, گوہر ممتاز ) is a Pakistani musician, singer-songwriter, music composer, guitarist and actor. He is famous for being the founding member of rock band Jal. Early life Goher was born in Lahore. As a child, Goher practiced music on a keyboard which he got as a gift. At 16, he sold his bike to buy his first guitar which he hid under his bed due to parent's restrictions. After his high school exams, Goher suffered an accident and was confined to bed for six months. This gave him time and space to grasp every note in the music that he listened to. With no formal training, Goher taught himself composition, song writing and singing. Later, he won in many college-level music competitions and gained momentum by performing at local restaurants in Lahore. 'Aadat'' ( ) is originally a song by Jal band. It was sung by Atif Aslam and composed by Goher Mumtaz. Later it was released in several different versions in Jal's album Aadat by Farhan Saeed and Atif Aslam's solo album Jal Pari. It was also used in the Bollywood films Kalyug and Chocolate. Original/JalPari Version The song was written by Goher Mumtaz, sung by Atif Aslam, music by the band Jal. That time, Atif was the lead singer of Jal. ''Aadat'' is a 2004 studio album by the Pakistani band Jal. The album features three bonus tracks (Dr. Zeus & Kais Mix) and has an exclusive bonus VCD with all Jal videos. Copyright dispute Atif Aslam released his debut solo album '' Jal Pari'' after he left the band, which included some songs from ''Aadat'': "Lamhey" (titled as "Bheegi Yaadein" on ''Jal Pari''), "Dil Haarey" (titled as "Ankhon Se" on ''Jal Pari'') and "Rangon Mein" (titled as "Zindagi" on ''Jal Pari''). This led to a dispute between Aslam and Jal about who owned the rights to the songs, as Mumtaz took the dispute to court. However, the final statement from the court went somewhat in favour of both the artists as the songs which were included in both the artist albums were compositions of both Aslam and Mumtaz. ''Man Push Cart'' is a 2005 American independent film by Ramin Bahrani that tells the story of a former Pakistani rock star who sells coffee and bagels from his pushcart on the streets of Manhattan. Plot Early every morning, Ahmad (Ahmad Razvi), a Pakistani immigrant, struggles to drag his heavy cart along the streets of New York to a corner in Midtown Manhattan, where he sells coffee and bagels. He encounters a wealthy Pakistani businessman who offers him some work and financial assistance, promising also to introduce him to the music scene.
