Jacqueline Poelman
Helina Jacomina (Jacqueline) Poelman (October 5, 1973) is a former Dutch sprinter. Poelman was born and raised in Leek and trained at an athletics club in Roden. Her first major international tournament were the 1991 European Junior Championships in Thessaloniki, where she did not reach the final on the 100 nor the 200 m. Only a year later at the World Junior Championships she won the silver medal on the 100 m, finishing second, while she became fourth on the 200 m. In the same year she was part of the Dutch 4 × 100 m relay team during the Olympics in Barcelona, which was eliminated in the series. Poelman won the bronze medal on the 200 m at the 1994 European Championships, held in Paris. For a long time this was her last international achievement. Only in 2002 Poelman worked on her comeback after a few years without hardly any competition, because she finished her study. Leek, Groningen
Leek (; gos, De Laik; fy, De Like) is a village and former municipality in Groningen province in the northeastern Netherlands. The municipality, which bordered the Drenthe and Friesland provinces, was merged into the municipality of Westerkwartier on 1 January 2019. The village of Leek is approximately 20 km west of Groningen (city) on the A7 ( E22) highway. Letitia Vriesde
Letitia Alma Vriesde (born 5 October 1964) is a female former track and field athlete from Suriname, who specialised in the 800 metres but was also successful over 1500 metres. She is the first (and to date, only) sportsperson from Suriname to compete at five Olympic Games. She won a silver medal at the 1995 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships. Vriesde holds the South American records for the 800 metres, 1000 metres and 1500 metres (indoors and outdoors) and also for the 3000 metres (indoors). Career Vriesde started running in Suriname, coached by Luiz de Oliveira. She left Suriname after failing to be selected for the 1984 Olympics to train in the Netherlands. 60 Metres
60 metres, or 60-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field. It is a championship event for indoor championships, normally dominated by the best outdoor 100 metres runners. At outdoor venues it is a rare distance, at least for senior athletes. The format of the event is similar to other sprint distances. The sprinters follow three initial instructions: 'ready', instructing them to take up position in the starting blocks; 'set', instructing them to adopt a more efficient starting posture, which also isometrically preloads their muscles. This will enable them to start faster. The final instruction is the firing of the starter's pistol. Upon hearing this the sprinters stride forwards from the blocks. 2005 European Indoor Championships In Athletics
The 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, from Friday, 4 March to Sunday, 6 March 2005. This was the first edition to be held in an odd year since switching to the biennial format, so as not to occur in the same as the outdoor European Athletics Championships and also recently moved IAAF World Indoor Championships. To accommodate this change, there was a two-year gap since the previous edition. It also marked the last time that the 200 metres were contested at the event. Russia finished on top of the medal table with 17 medals including 9 gold and a clear lead over Sweden and France. Anna Maria 'Annemarie' Kramer (born 15 February 1975 in Haarlem) is a former Dutch sprinter. She started with athletics at the age of twelve and soon found out that she had a special talent for the sprinting events. She was a five-time Dutch sprinting champion. In 2003 Annemarie Kramer participated in the World Championships in Paris as a member of the Dutch 4 x 100 metres relay team, together with Jacqueline Poelman, Pascal van Assendelft and Joan van den Akker. Pascal van Assendelft (born October 6, 1979 in Leidschendam) is a former Dutch sprinter. She started her career in athletics at the age of thirteen and was to become a sprinting athlete, competing at European and Olympic level. In 2001, she took part in the European Championships for athletes younger than 23 years, starting in the 100 and 200 metres and reaching the semi-final on both occasions. Two years later Pascal van Assendelft participated in the World Championships in Paris as a member of the Dutch 4 x 100 metres relay team, together with Jacqueline Poelman, Annemarie Kramer and Joan van den Akker. Although the team did not reach the final, it nominated itself for the 2004 Summer Olympics, realising the twelfth time out of twenty teams in competition.
