Jacob Louis Mey (30 October 1926 – 10 February 2023) was a Dutch-born Danish professor of linguistics, specializing in pragmatics. He was professor emeritus in the Institute of Language and Communication at the University of Southern Denmark, after retiring in 1996.Jacob L. István Kecskés is a Distinguished Professor of the State University of New York, USA. He teaches graduate courses in pragmatics, second language acquisition and bilingualism at SUNY, Albany. He is the President of the American Pragmatics Association (AMPRA) and the CASLAR (Chinese as a Second Language Research) Association. Hartmut Haberland (born February 3, 1948 in Hanover, Germany) is a German-Danish linguist and professor emeritus at Roskilde University in Denmark. In 1977, he founded the ''Journal of Pragmatics'' together with Jacob Mey. Currently, he is a co-editor of ''Pragmatics and Society'', and an editor of '' Acta Linguistica Hafniensia'', the journal of the Linguistic Circle of Copenhagen. In 2005, Haberland became a Danish citizen. Research Haberland's textbook ''Soziologie + Linguistik.
