Jack Hiskins
Jack Hiskins (12 February 1911 – 16 March 1973) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career A half-back, Hiskins started his career in the Ovens & Murray Football League, with Rutherglen in 1930. (archived) He joined Essendon in the 1934 VFL season and made 13 appearances that year. After playing for Essendon in the opening three rounds of the 1935 season, Hiskins returned to Rutherglen. Hiskins was coach of their 1935 premiership team, which defeated Border United in the grand final He steered them to another grand final in 1936, but this time they finished on the losing team, unable to defeat Wangaratta. Rutherglen is a small town in north-eastern Victoria, Australia, near the Murray River border with New South Wales. Fred Hiskins
John Frederick Hiskins (8 August 1878 – 25 November 1946) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1900s. Hiskins came from a family of 16 and hailed from Lake Moodermere near Wahgunyah, Victoria. Hiskins played in Excelsior's 1900 Ovens & Murray Football League premiership prior to making his VFL debut in round 15, 1900 against South Melbourne. Hiskins was a half forward and topped the league's goalkicking in the 1901 VFL season with 34 goals, finishing the year in Essendon's premiership side. He would have kicked more that year had it not been for an inaccurate game against South Melbourne which saw him kick two goals and ten behinds. Stanley Clarence Hiskins (2 June 1890 – 2 April 1974) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hiskins was one of four brothers from Rutherglen who appeared in the VFL. Rupert Ernest "Rupe" Hiskins (29 October 1893 – 9 March 1976) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hiskins, one of 14 siblings, had three elder brothers that played in the VFL, Arthur, Fred and Stan. He served with the Light Horse Brigade during the First World War. Already 26 by the time he debuted in 1920, Hiskins played five seasons at Carlton, usually in the ruck, resting on the half back flank and wing. Arthur 'Poddy' Hiskins (9 September 1886 – 23 October 1971) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family One of fourteen children, and the son of John Hiskins (1853-1946) and Emma Hiskins (1856-1934), née Thompson, Arthur Hiskins was born in Wahgunyah, Victoria, on 9 September 1886. He married Annie Wilhelmina "Minnie" Bett (1897-1986) in 1927. Three of his eight brothers also played senior VFL football: Fred Hiskins (1878–1946), played 50 games with Essendon, Stanley Hiskins (1890–1974), 66 games with South Melbourne, and Rupert Hiskins (1893–1976), 74 games with Carlton.
