Stan Hiskins
Stanley Clarence Hiskins (2 June 1890 – 2 April 1974) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hiskins was one of four brothers from Rutherglen who appeared in the VFL. Wahgunyah
Wahgunyah is a town in northeastern Victoria, Australia. The town is on the southern bank of the Murray River, opposite Corowa, New South Wales, in the Shire of Indigo. Wahgunyah is north east of the state capital, Melbourne and west of Albury/Wodonga. At the , Wahgunyah had a population of 1,098. The 1914 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Carlton Football Club and South Melbourne Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 26 September 1914. It was the 17th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1914 VFL season. The match, attended by 30,495 spectators, was won by Carlton by a margin of 6 points, marking that club's fourth premiership victory. Rupert Ernest "Rupe" Hiskins (29 October 1893 – 9 March 1976) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hiskins, one of 14 siblings, had three elder brothers that played in the VFL, Arthur, Fred and Stan. He served with the Light Horse Brigade during the First World War. Already 26 by the time he debuted in 1920, Hiskins played five seasons at Carlton, usually in the ruck, resting on the half back flank and wing.
