JDS Development is an American real-estate development group headquartered in Manhattan, New York, with an additional presence in Miami and South Florida. The firm was founded by Michael Stern, a native of Long Island. History The JDS Development Group was founded in 2002 by Michael Stern. The company was incorporated as a privately held New York City-based acquisition firm and real estate development. It specializes in luxury housing, leisure and mixed-use developments, it has over 7 million square feet of real estate under construction. In 2018, Madison Realty Capital gave a construction loan of $137 million to the JDS Development Group for Monad Terrace Condominium located in Miami, Florida. The Steinway Tower
111 West 57th Street, also known as Steinway Tower, is a supertall residential skyscraper in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Developed by JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, it is situated along Billionaires' Row on the north side of 57th Street near Sixth Avenue. The main portion of the building is an 84-story, tower designed by SHoP Architects and completed in 2021. Preserved at the base is the 16-story Steinway Building (also Steinway Hall), a former Steinway & Sons store designed by Warren and Wetmore and completed in 1925, which originally carried the address 111 West 57th Street. 111 West 57th Street contains 60 luxury condominiums: 14 in Steinway Hall and 46 in the tower. 9 DeKalb Avenue
The Brooklyn Tower (originally referred to as 340 Flatbush Avenue Extension and subsequently 9 DeKalb Avenue) is a supertall mixed-use, primarily residential skyscraper in the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City. Developed by JDS Development Group, it is situated on the north side of DeKalb Avenue near Flatbush Avenue. The main portion of the skyscraper is a 93-story, tower designed by SHoP Architects. The tower is the first supertall building in Brooklyn, as well as the tallest building in Brooklyn and the tallest in New York City outside Manhattan. Preserved at the skyscraper's base is the Dime Savings Bank Building, which dates to the 1900s. The Dime Savings Bank Building contains a white-marble facade with colonnades; a diagonal entrance portico on Albee Square; and a domed roof. American Copper Buildings
The American Copper Buildings (originally known as 626 First Avenue) are a pair of luxury residential skyscrapers in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. The buildings were developed by JDS Development and were designed by SHoP Architects with interiors by SHoP and K&Co. The buildings are one of several major collaborations between JDS and SHoP; others include 111 West 57th Street, also in Manhattan, and The Brooklyn Tower in Brooklyn. History The site the two towers occupy was originally a lot that hosted the Consolidated Edison Kips Bay generating station.
