Indian Chamber Of Commerce
Indian Chamber of Commerce is a non-governmental trade association and advocacy group having its headquarter situated in Calcutta India. It is one of the oldest trade association in the country and it was founded in year 1925. ICC's current president iAmeya Prabhuand Rajeev Singh is the current Director General. ICC's main activities includes dispute resolution and policy advocacy. History It was founded by pioneering Indian Industrialists based in Calcutta during British Raj, led by Ghanshyam Das Birla. They also have offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Agartala, Siliguri, Ranchi and Patna. It opened its first international office in Rome,Italy in 2023 appointing Vas Shenoy as its Chief Representative. The Chamber was also closely associated with the Indian Freedom Movement. Ghanshyam Das Birla
Ghanshyam Das Birla (10 April 1894 – 11 June 1983) was an Indian businessman and member of the Birla Family. Birla family history Ghanshyam Das Birla was born on 10 April 1894 at Pilani town in Jhunjhunu district, in the region known as Rajputana, as a member of the Marwari Maheshwari community. His father was Raja Baldevdas Birla. In 1884 A.D. Baldeo Das Birla went to Bombay in search of new avenues of trade. He established his firm Shiv Narian Baldeo Das in Bombay in 1884 and Baldeo Das Jugal Kishore in 1897 in Calcutta. The firms started business in silver, cotton, grain and other commodities. He was succeeded by 4 sons, Jugal Kishore, Rameshwar Das, Ghanshyam Das and Braj Mohan. Ghanshyam Das was the most successful of the four brothers. Bijoy Prasad Singh Roy
Sir Bijoy Prasad Singh Roy, KCIE (1894, Calcutta 24 November 1961, Calcutta) was an Indian politician. Biography Singh Roy studied at the Hindu School and the Presidency University, Kolkata, and received a Bachelor and Master of Laws from the Law College Kolkata. Later he was a lawyer at the Calcutta High Court. In 1921 Roy was elected to the Bengal Legislative Council in British India and was Minister of Local Self-Government in 1930. On 1 April 1932, he introduced a bill on a municipal code. Singh Roy was Sheriff of Calcutta and from 1937 to 1941 in the cabinet of AK Fazlul Huq with responsibility for the Treasury in Bengal. From 1943 to 1947 he was chairman of the Bengal Legislative Assembly.He was knighted in 1933 and created KCIE in 1943. Ranchi
Ranchi (, ) is the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. Ranchi was the centre of the Jharkhand movement, which called for a separate state for the tribal regions of South Bihar, northern Odisha, western West Bengal and the eastern area of what is present-day Chhattisgarh. The Jharkhand state was formed on 15 November 2000 by carving out the Bihar divisions of Chota Nagpur and Santhal Parganas. Shillong
Shillong () is a hill station and the capital of Meghalaya, a Indian state, state in northeastern India, which means "The Abode of Clouds". It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district. Shillong is the list of most populous cities in India, 330th most populous city in India with a population of 143,229 according to the 2011 census. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel gas mainly composed of methane (CH4), compressed to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of , usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes. CNG is used in traditional petrol/internal combustion engine vehicles that have been modified, or in vehicles specifically manufactured for CNG use: either alone (dedicated), with a segregated liquid fuel system to extend range (dual fuel), or in conjunction with another fuel ( bi-fuel). R S Lodha
Rajendra Singh Lodha (died 3 October 2008), popularly known as R. S. Lodha, was an Indian chartered accountant and the chairman of the Birla Corporation. Lodha became co-chairman of the Birla Corporation in 2001. In July 2004, Priyamvada Birla, chairperson of the Birla Corporation, died and was revealed to have bequeathed the entire assets of the company to Lodha in 1999. Lodha was also the will's executor. Russi Mody
Rustomji Homusji Mody, known to most as Russi Mody (17 January 1918 – 16 May 2014) was a chairman and managing director of Tata Steel and a leading member of the Tata Group. Early years Russi was born on 17 January 1918 in Bombay (now Mumbai) to a Parsi family. His father was Sir Homi Mody. His mother was Lady Jerbai Mody née Dubash. Russi had two brothers, Kali Homi Mody and Piloo Mody. After a few years of schooling in India, he was sent to England for further studies.
