(also ''IMAGEFIGHT'') is a 1988 scrolling shooter, vertically scrolling shooter arcade game developed and published by Irem. It was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System, TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine (Japan-only), Sharp X68000 (Japan-only), and FM Towns (Japan-only) in 1990. Irem
is a Japanese video game console developer and publisher, and formerly a developer and manufacturer of arcade games as well. The company has its headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The full name of the company that uses the brand is Irem Software Engineering. It was established in 1997 by its parent company Nanao (now Eizo) for the purpose of taking over the development department of the original Irem Corporation, that had left the video game industry in 1994 to concentrate itself on the rental and sales of coin-op electronics. Irem Corporation was founded in 1974 as IPM and still exists today under the name of Apies. R-Type Final
is a horizontal shooter video game by Irem for the PlayStation 2 video game console. It was planned to be the last mainline game in the ''R-Type'' series. However, ''R-Type Tactics'' was released for the PlayStation Portable in 2007, and the direct sequel ''R-Type Final 2'' was announced on March 30, 2019, and was released on April 29, 2021. Story ''Final'' takes place after several long wars against the Bydo, the main antagonist in the ''R-Type'' series. The player's first mission is to investigate a mysterious enemy inside a crashed space colony, the remnants of a large battle codenamed Operation Last Dance, a previous attempt to wipe out the Bydo once and for all. In 1998, the game was released with ''Image Fight'' as a one-disc doublebill on PlayStation and Sega Saturn.
