Ilyse Hogue
Ilyse Hogue (born August 26, 1969) is an American progressive activist who served as president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, a reproductive rights lobbying and advocacy organization, from 2013 to 2021. In September 2021, she became president of Purpose, a social impact organization. Early years Hogue was born in Dallas, Dallas, Texas, in August 1969. Her family is Ashkenazi Jews, Jewish. She graduated from high school at Greenhill School (Addison, Texas), Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, before attending Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she studied environmental science. She attended graduate school at the University of Michigan and later worked as a research assistant at the University of Montana. The 2017 Democratic National Committee chairmanship election was held on February 25, 2017, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta to determine the next chairperson of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). It was the first contested DNC chair election since 1985. Tom Perez and Keith Ellison emerged as the favored candidates of the majority of DNC members. Other candidates included Sally Boynton Brown, Pete Buttigieg, future DNC chairman Jaime Harrison, Sam Ronan and Jehmu Greene. Perez was elected chairperson after two rounds of voting. Troy Edward Newman-Mariotti, known as Troy Newman (born 1966), is an American anti-abortion activist. He is the president of Operation Rescue, which is based in Wichita, Kansas, and sits on the board of the Center for Medical Progress.
