Idols (Finnish TV Series)
''Idols'' is a Finnish reality-television singing competition that airs on Nelonen (and formerly also on MTV3 and Sub). It debuted in the summer of 2003, and went on to become one of the most popular shows on Finnish television. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which was first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best unsigned singer in Finland through a series of nationwide auditions, and the outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by public phone voting. The four original judges were music executives Jone Nikula and Asko Kallonen, and songwriter-producers Hannu Korkeamäki and Nanna Mikkonen. DVB-T, short for Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial, is the DVB European-based consortium standard for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television that was first published in 1997 and first broadcast in Singapore in February, 1998. This system transmits compressed digital audio, digital video and other data in an MPEG transport stream, using coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (COFDM or OFDM) modulation. MTV Sub (formerly TVTV!, Subtv and Sub) is a Finnish TV channel owned by MTV Oy. The previous owner Alma Media sold Sub and its sister channels (MTV3, C More Max, MTV Ava Radio Nova and Sävelradio) to Swedish Bonnier and Proventus in 2005. Programs and audience Sub is an entertainment channel directed at teens and young adults. Programs are mostly imported and of U.S. origin. Sub also shows reruns of popular and cult TV shows. The X Factor (UK)
''The X Factor'' is a British reality television music competition, created by Simon Cowell. Premiering on 4 September 2004, it was produced by Fremantle's Thames and Cowell's production company Syco Entertainment for ITV, as well as simulcast on Virgin Media One in Ireland. The programme ran for around 445 episodes across fifteen series, each one primarily broadcast late in the year, until its final episode in December 2018. All episodes were presented by Dermot O'Leary, with some exceptions: the first three series were hosted by Kate Thornton; while Caroline Flack and Olly Murs hosted the show for the twelfth series. ''X Factor'' is the Finnish version of ''X Factor'', a show originating from the United Kingdom. It is a television music talent show contested by aspiring pop singers drawn from public auditions. The first season concluded in May 2010. On 13 June 2017, it was revealed that the show would be revived for a second season which began airing in 2018. Martti Saarinen (born 20 October 1980 in Tuusula, Finland) is a Finnish singer and the winner of the ''Idols (season 5), fifth series'' of the ''Idols (Finland), Idols'' in 2011. Koop Juho Alexander Arponen (born 20 April 1984 in Lappeenranta, Finland) is a Finnish singer and the winner of the fourth series of the '' Idols'' in 2008. Biography Koop Arponen was born in Lappeenranta, Eastern Finland to a Finnish father and a Dutch mother. When he was two, his family moved to Belgium and to England a few years later where he attended Cheam High School in Cheam, Greater London, between 1995 and 2002. Ari Koivunen (born 7 June 1984) is a Finnish heavy metal singer who rose to fame as the winner of the Finnish singing competition '' Idols'' in 2007. He was the vocalist of the Finnish heavy metal band ''Amoral'' from 2008 to 2017. Beside he has worked with many musical projects already before and also after Amoral disbanded. Ilkka Aaron Jääskeläinen (born 10 November 1979) is a singer who rose to popularity after winning '' Idols Finland 2'', the Finnish version of ''Pop Idol'' with a 55% majority of the vote over runner-up Katri Ylander.
