Martti Saarinen (born 20 October 1980 in Tuusula, Finland) is a Finnish singer and the winner of the ''Idols (season 5), fifth series'' of the ''Idols (Finland), Idols'' in 2011. In the last final of Idols Saarinen got 56% of the votes. Ali Elkharam was second. The winner's song was "Se alkaa taas". His debut album, ''Martti Saarinen'', was released in 2011. Tuusula
Tuusula (; sv, Tusby ) is a municipality of Finland. It belongs to the Helsinki sub-region of the Uusimaa region. The municipality has a population of () and is by far the third largest municipality in Finland after Nurmijärvi and Kirkkonummi that doesn't use the town or city title by itself. Idols (season 5)
The fifth season of '' Finnish Idol'' premiered on February 3, 2011 on MTV3. Nina Tapio and Jone Nikula returned as judges, and Sami Pitkämö replaced Patric Sarin as a judge. Heikki Paasonen returned as the show's host, but his co-hosts from the previous season did not return as they were replaced by Niina Herala. ''Idols tekee hyvää'', a Finnish version of the hugely acclaimed American ''Idol Gives Back'' program, was held for the first time on April 24, 2011. The concert was hosted by Heikki Paasonen and Idols' original hostess Ellen Jokikunnas, who replaced Niina Herala for that one episode. This season also includes a new show called ''Idols Studio'', which replaces ''Idols Extra''. ''Idols'' is a Finnish reality-television singing competition that airs on Nelonen (and formerly also on MTV3 and Sub). It debuted in the summer of 2003, and went on to become one of the most popular shows on Finnish television. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which was first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best unsigned singer in Finland through a series of nationwide auditions, and the outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by public phone voting.
