Ida Farida
Ida Farida (born 5 May 1939) is an Indonesian director, screenwriter, and journalist. She is the sister of director Misbach Yusa Biran, and is the last surviving of the six Indonesian women directors before 1998. Early life Farida was born on 5 May 1939 in Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, as the second daughter and youngest child of Jusa Biran. Her father was a journalist of Minangkabau descent who faced exile during the Dutch colonial period, while her mother was from Rangkasbitung. Her brother, Misbach Yusa Biran, was a director who often gave her a novel from a foreign country. Farida spent her childhood in Rangkasbitung, and has had completed middle high school education. She then moved to Bogor, Bandung, and Jakarta, and later began to publish a short story for make money. Personal life Farida had three children. Rangkasbitung (Sundanese: ) (colloquially called Rangkas) is a town which is the administrative centre of Lebak Regency, in Banten Province of Java, Indonesia. It had a population of 134,945 at the 2020 Census, while the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 137,041. It is the site of the Multatuli Museum, a history museum which opened in 2018. Ratna Asmara
Ratna Asmara (1913 – August 1968) was an Indonesian actress and film director. Originally active in theatre, in 1940 she starred in the romance film ''Kartinah'', which her first husband Andjar directed. After appearing in several further films, she made her directorial debut in 1950 with ''Sedap Malam'' (''Sweetness of the Night''), which made her the first female film director in Indonesian history. Although her work was generally ignored, later female Indonesian directors have found critical acclaim. Early career Ratna was born in the Minangkabau Highlands of Sumatra 1913. This ethnic Sundanese actress had a sister, Suhara, who was married to the director Bachtiar Effendi. Ratna and her husband Andjar joined the Dardanella touring troupe in the early 1930s; with the troupe she was known for the quality of her voice. Marjolein Tambayong (August 22, 1937 – June 23, 2022), better known by her stage name Rima Melati or by her nickname Lientje, was an Indonesian actress, model, and singer. She appeared in close to one hundred feature films, including works by Wim Umboh, Sjumandjaja, and Teguh Karya. Rara Patma Dewi Tjitrohadiseikusumo (26 January 1930 – 28 October 2008), best known under her stage name Chitra Dewi, was an Indonesian film actress and director.
