Rangkasbitung (Sundanese: ) (colloquially called Rangkas) is a town which is the administrative centre of Lebak Regency, in Banten Province of Java, Indonesia. It had a population of 134,945 at the 2020 Census, while the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 137,041. It is the site of the Multatuli Museum, a history museum which opened in 2018. Climate Rangkasbitung has a tropical rainforest climate (Af) with heavy rainfall year-round. Transportation The town lies on the road connecting Jakarta, Serpong and Pandeglang. It is also connected with western railway line of Java, connecting Jakarta with Serang until Merak. The town is served by Jakarta Metrorail. Rangkasbitung Station (RK) is a railway station located in East Muara Ciujung, Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, Banten. Rangkasbitung Station is the main station of Lebak Regency. KRL Commuterline, or commonly known as Commuterline, is a commuter rail system for Greater Jakarta in Indonesia. It was previously known as KRL Jabodetabek. It is operated by PT KAI Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter/KCI), a subsidiary of the Indonesian national railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). Multatuli Museum (Indonesia)
The Multatuli Museum ( id, Museum Multatuli) is a museum located in Rangkasbitung, Banten, Indonesia. Its focus is the author Multatuli (Edward Douwes Dekker), who lived in the area in the 1850s and used it as the basis for his famous anti-colonial novel ''Max Havelaar''. The museum also examines Dutch East Indies colonial history, the anti-colonial movement, and the local history of Rangkasbitung. There is another Multatuli Museum in Amsterdam which houses many of the author's personal papers. Lebak Regency is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Java. The regency has an area of 3,305.072 km2 and had a population of 1,204,095 at the 2010 census and 1,386,793 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,407,857. Ciujung
The Ciujung (Ujung River) is a river in the province of West Java and Banten on the island of Java, Indonesia. Location The rivers in Banten, the westernmost province of Java, run roughly parallel to each other. Eduard Douwes Dekker (2 March 182019 February 1887), better known by his pen name Multatuli (from Latin ''multa tulī'', "I have suffered much"), was a Dutch writer best known for his satirical novel ''Max Havelaar'' (1860), which denounced the abuses of colonialism in the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia).
