Ichangu Narayan Temple
Ichangu Narayan Temple ( ne, इचंगु नारायण मन्दिर) is a 5th-century Hindu temple located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is one of the four major Narayan (chaar Narayan) temples of Kathmandu valley alongside Changu Narayan, Bisankhu Narayan and Sheshnarayan. Narayana
Narayana (Sanskrit: नारायण, IAST: ''Nārāyaṇa'') is one of the forms and names of Vishnu, who is in yogic slumber under the celestial waters, referring to the masculine principle. He is also known as Purushottama, and is considered the Supreme Being in Vaishnavism. Etymology L. B. Keny proposes that Narayana was associated with the Dravidian, and ultimately, the Indus Valley Civilisation, prior to his syncretism with Vishnu. To this end, he states that the etymology of the deity is associated with the Dravidian ''nara'', meaning water, ''ay'', which in Tamil means "to lie in a place", and ''an'', which is the masculine termination in Dravidian languages. Changu Narayan Temple
Changu Narayan is an ancient Hindu temple, located on a high hilltop that is also known as Changu or Dolagiri in Changunarayan Municipality of Bhaktapur District, Nepal. This hill is about 7 miles (or 12km) east of Kathmandu and a few miles north of Bhaktapur. The Manohara River flows beside the hill. The temple is considered to be one of the oldest temple in Nepal. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and is held in special reverence by the Hindu people. The temple was surrounded by champak tree forest and a small village known as Changu. The Sheshnarayan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple complex in Sheshnarayan Village Development Committee (VDC). The site is near the ancient town of Pharping, which lies approximately 20 kilometers south-west of Kathmandu, Nepal. Lichhavi Dynasty
The Licchavis of Nepal (also ''Lichchhavi'', ''Lichavi'') was a kingdom which existed in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal from approximately 450 CE to 750 CE. The Licchavi clan originated from the Licchavis of Vaishali in modern-day Bihar, and conquered the Kathmandu Valley.
