Ivy City–Franklin Square Line
The Ivy City–Franklin Square Line, designated Route D4, was a daily bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority between Ivy City and Franklin Square. The line operated every 17–20 minutes during the weekday peak-hours, and 30–35 minutes at all other times. Route D4 trips were roughly 32 minutes. Background Route D4 operated daily between Ivy City and Franklin Square via K Street connecting riders from Ivy City and NoMa to Downtown. Route D4 operated out of Bladensburg division. History Route D4 began operation under the Washington Railway & Electric Company operating under streetcar lines operating between Ivy City and Downtown DC. The Military Road–Crosstown Line, designated Route E4, was a daily bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority between the Friendship Heights station of the Red Line of the Washington Metro and Fort Totten station of the Red and Green Lines of the Washington Metro or Riggs Park (Eastern Ave & Jamaica St NE). The line ran every 20 minutes between 7AM and 9PM and 30 minutes after 9PM with every other trip alternating between Friendship Heights and Fort Totten/Riggs Park. Trips took roughly 40 minutes. Additional daily trips were shortened to Fort Totten station which took roughly 30 minutes. Riggs Park is a residential neighborhood in Ward 4 of Northeast Washington, D.C. It is part of the greater Lamond-Riggs community (comprising the Lamond neighborood to the north, and Riggs Park to the south). Riggs Park is bounded by South Dakota Ave NE to the west, Eastern Ave NE to the east, Galloway St NE to the south, and New Hampshire Ave NE to the north. Fort Totten Station
Fort Totten station is a Washington Metro station in northeastern Washington, D.C. It is one of the four major transfer points on the Metrorail system. It acts as a transfer point between the Green and Red Lines. It is the last station on the Green Line in the District of Columbia before heading into Maryland and the second to last for the Red Line. It is one of two stations (the other being Arlington Cemetery) with three levels (the entrance and exit are on the second floor between the three lines), and is doubly unique in being the only multi-level transfer station built above ground and being the only such station to have island platforms on both levels, as opposed to just the lower level.
