Dimitrana Ivanova, née ''Petrova'' ( bg, Димитрана Иванова, 1881–1960), was a Bulgarian educational reformer, suffragist and women's rights activist. She chaired the Bulgarian Women's Union from 1926 to 1944. Biography Ivanova née Petrova was born on 1 February 1881 in Rousse, Bulgaria. The daughter of a trader, she was educated in the local girls' school and high school for girls. In Bulgaria, women were allowed to listen into lectures at the University of Sofia from 1896, but could not be regular students there until 1901, and even then it remained difficult, as high schools for girls offered only six of the seven secondary grades required for university admission. Dimitrana Ivanova was denied a place to study law in Sofia on these grounds, but she became the first female to study education and philosophy at the University of Zürich. Ilya Ivanovich Ivanov (russian: Илья́ Ива́нович Ивано́в, – March 20, 1932) was a Russian and Soviet biologist who specialized in the field of artificial insemination and the interspecific hybridization of animals. He is famous for his controversial attempts to create a human-ape hybrid by inseminating three female chimpanzees with human sperm. Igor Sergeyevich Ivanov (born 23 September 1945) is a Russian politician who was Foreign Minister of Russia from 1998 to 2004 under both the Yeltsin and the Putin administrations. Early life Ivanov was born in 1945 in Moscow to a Russian father and a Georgian mother (Elena Sagirashvili). Igor Vasilyevich Ivanov (January 8, 1947 – November 17, 2005) was a Russian-born Canadian grandmaster of chess and a concert pianist. Early life He was born in 1947 in Leningrad, USSR, and learned chess at age five. He studied music intensively as a youth, specializing in piano, and was very talented. He was orphaned at age 14 when his mother died; she had wanted him to become a concert performer. He essentially gave up this path to concentrate on chess. Ivanov studied Mathematics at Leningrad State University, but left before completing his degree. He was a member of the Army Sports Club, for which he trained chessplayers, and also played extensively. Georgy Vasilyevich Ivanov (russian: Георгий Васильевич Иванов; 25 May 1901 – 25 December 2001) was a Soviet Army major general and Hero of the Soviet Union. Ivanov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin for his leadership of the 6th Guards Rifle Division from late 1944 to 1945. Georgy Vladimirovich Ivanov (russian: Гео́ргий Влади́мирович Ива́нов; in Puki Estate, Seda Volost, Kovno Governorate – 26 August 1958 in Hyères, Var, France) was a leading poet and essayist of the Russian emigration between the 1930s and 1950s. As a banker's son, Ivanov spent his young manhood in the elite circle of Russian golden youth. He started writing verses, imitative of Baudelaire and the French Symbolists, at a precocious age.
