The Eurasian Scout Region (russian: Евразийский Скаутский Регион, ua, Євразійський скаутський регіон) is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, (in Russian ''Всемирной Организации Скаутского Движения'' or ''ВОСД'') headquartered in Kyiv, formerly located at Gurzuf near Yalta- Krasnokamianka, Ukraine, with a branch office in Moscow. All the formerly communist states of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Soviet Union have developed or are developing Scouting in the wake of the renaissance in the region. These include most of the successor states to the Soviet Union, in the Commonwealth of Independent States. World Organization Of The Scout Movement
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The WOSM's current stated mission is "to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society". Scouting in Russia comprises several dozen Scouting, Scout associations, based on religion, politics and geography. History 1908 to 1922 In 1908, Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, Baden-Powell's book ''Scouting for Boys'' came out in Russia by the order of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Nicholas II. It was called ''Young Scout'' (, ''Yuny Razvedchik''). On , a young officer, Colonel Oleg Pantyukhov, organized the first Russian Scout troop ''Beaver'' (, ''Bobr'') in Pavlovsk, Saint Petersburg, Pavlovsk, a town near Tsarskoye Selo, St. Petersburg region. In 1910, Baden-Powell visited Nicholas II in Tsarskoye Selo and they had a very pleasant conversation, as the Tsar remembered it.
