Ivan Ivanov (russian: Иван Иванов; born April 27, 1979) is a Kyrgyz former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a single-time Olympian and a former Kyrgyzstani record holder in the 400 and 1500 m freestyle. Ivanov competed in a long-distance freestyle double at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He posted FINA B-standards of 4:04.35 (400 m freestyle) and 16:10.15 (1500 m freestyle) from the Russian National Championships in Moscow. On the first day of the Games, Ivanov placed forty-fifth in the 400 m freestyle. Swimming in heat one, he held off Nicaragua's Marcelino López by almost ten seconds to take a fifth spot in 4:09.33. Four days later, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay, Ivanov, along with Andrei Pakin, Aleksandr Shilin, and Dmitri Kuzmin, were disqualified from heat one for an early takeoff during the lead-off leg. Life and work Ivan Ivanov was born on 7 April 2000 in Gorna Oryahovitsa, a small town in northeastern Bulgaria. Ivan Ivanov Bagryanov ( bg, Иван Иванов Багрянов) (17 October 1891, in Razgrad – 1 February 1945, in Sofia) was a leading Bulgarian politician who briefly served as Prime Minister during the Second World War. Biography After a career as a diplomat, he was chosen by the Council of Regents, who at the time had power in Bulgaria, to form a government capable of negotiating peace. In contrast to his predecessor, Dobri Bozhilov, Bagryanov was known for his largely pro-Western views. He saw his mission as removing Bulgaria from the war before the arrival of the Red Army and so attempted to open negotiations with the Western Allies. He also opened dialogue with Jewish leaders in an attempt to end anti-Jewish legislation. Ivan Ivanov, ( bg, Иван Иванов) (1891–1965) was a Bulgarian engineer and mayor of Sofia in the period 25 May 1934 – 9 September 1944. He was born in Sliven. He has studied in Stara Zagora, the Military school of Sofia, and in 1915 he graduated civil engineering in Munich, Germany. During World War I he headed a railroad construction in Macedonia. In 1919 he has been appointed deputy head of the water supply department of Sofia. In 1924 he started working on what turned out to be his most recognised work - the water supply line from Rila mountain to Sofia. The project had a total length of 82 km, which includes 38.5 km channels, 17.9 km tunnels and 25.3 km tubes. The line was completed in 1933. In 1934 Ivanov was elected mayor of Sofia.
