Iulian Teodosiu
Iulian Teodosiu (born 30 September 1994) is a Romanian sabre fencer, winning a team silver medal in the 2013 World Fencing Championships. Career Teodosiu took up fencing at the age of 9 after coaches from his local club, CSS Slobozia, came at his school to do a presentation. He describes this first contact as “love at first sight”. Teodosiu practiced sabre along with future teammate Alin Badea under coaches Marin Mihăiță and Marius Pușcașu. Teodosiu joined the national team at the age of 18, after the 2012 Summer Olympics, when three of its four members retired from sport. His first competition with the team was the Madrid World Cup, where Romania earned a bronze medal. Mădălin Bucur was selected in his place for the 2013 European Fencing Championships in Zagreb, but head coach Mihai Covaliu called him back as reserve for the World Championships in Budapest. Fencing
Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. A fourth discipline, singlestick, appeared in the 1904 Olympics but was dropped after that and is not a part of modern fencing. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics. Tiberiu Dolniceanu
Tiberiu Dolniceanu (; born 3 April 1988) is a Romanian sabre fencer, European champion in 2013 and bronze medal in the 2013 World championships. As part of Romania's sabre team, he won the team silver medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics and the team gold medal in the 2009 World Championships in Antalya. Fencing career Junior Dolniceanu began fencing at age 13 under the coaching of Iulian Bițucă at CSM Iași. The absence of his parents, who had gone to work in Italy, pushed him to train hard. He took his first international podium in the Junior World Cup in Budapest in 2006. The same year, he earned a silver medal in the Junior World Championships in Poznań, after being defeated by future Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi. The 43rd FIE Fencing World Cup began in October 2013 and concluded in July 2014 at the 2014 World Fencing Championships held in Kazan. The World Cup medals were awarded during the FIE's gala dinner in Rome at Palazzo Colonna on 22 November 2014. Veniamin Sergeyevich Reshetnikov (russian: Вениамин Сергеевич Решетников; born 28 July 1986) is a Russian left-handed sabre fencer. Reshetnikov is a two-time team European champion, two-time individual European champion, three-time team world champion, and 2013 individual world champion. Reshetnikov competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games, where he finished 17th in the individual men's sabre event. Early life Reshetnikov graduated from the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, then studied public administration at the Novosibirsk State Agrarian University. Career In the 2005–06 season Reshetnikov joined the junior national team, where he became friends with Nikolay Kovalev. Nikolay Kovalev (fencer)
Nikolay Anatolyevich Kovalev (russian: Николай Анатольевич Ковалёв; born 28 October 1986) is a Russian sabre fencer. He won a bronze medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and a gold medal in the 2014 World Championships in Kazan. He is three-times World team champion (2010, 2011 and 2013) and twice European team champion (2007 and 2012). He is now a coach in California in the United States. Career Kovalev became European Junior champion in 2002 at Conegliano. He won the silver medal in the 2005 Junior World Championships at Linz, then a bronze medal in the 2006 Junior World Championships at Taebaek City.
