Islamic Institute Of Toronto
The Islamic Institute of Toronto (IIT) is a non-profit, federally registered, educational institute. The IIT was established in 1996 to strengthen access to Islamic universities and colleges, promote scholarly research, facilitate community outreach and interaction with other religious organizations and community groups, consolidate the social fabric of the community, and sustain Islamic work by encouraging and building endowments. McGill University Institute Of Islamic Studies
The McGill University Institute of Islamic Studies and the Islamic Studies Library were established in 1952 by Wilfred Cantwell Smith, and since 1983 both have been housed in Morrice Hall on McGill's campus in downtown Montreal, Quebec. McGill's institute is the first institute of Islamic studies in North America and hosts 14 full-time professors, 5 visiting positions and 5 professors emeritus. Library The Islamic Studies Library began with only 250 books but grew rapidly. Today, the library holds more than 110,000 volumes, half of them in Islamic languages, and is counted among the major North American collections in Islamic Studies. Islamic Circle Of North America
Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is an Islamic North American grassroots umbrella organization. History ICNA is an offshoot of the Muslim Students' Association (MSA), and was founded by immigrants from South Asia. In 1971, a number of South Asian MSA members who had been involved in Islamic movements in their home countries developed an Islamic study circle (''halaqa''), in Montreal. This Halqa Ahbab Islami would become the predecessor of ICNA. The "Sisters Wing", its women's group, was established in 1979. It is smaller and more conservative than the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), holding separate sessions at its national conventions for women. Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement employing the Scout method, a program of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking, and sports. Ḥadīth ( or ; ar, حديث, , , , , , , literally "talk" or "discourse") or Athar ( ar, أثر, , literally "remnant"/"effect") refers to what the majority of Muslims believe to be a record of the words, actions, and the silent approval of the Islamic prophet Muhammad as transmitted through chains of narrators.
