Irina Osipova (activist)
Irina Viktorovna Osipova (russian: Ирина Викторовна Осипова, born 25 June 1981) is a Russian basketball player. Since 2002 she was part of the Russia women's national basketball team at most major international competitions. She won Olympic bronze medals in 2004 and 2008, placing fourth in 2012, and collected three gold and five silver medals at the world and European championships. She currently plays for Dynamo Kursk from Russian Women's Basketball Premier League. She is married and has a daughter Alyona. Russia Women's National Basketball Team
The Russia women's national basketball team is administered by the Russian Basketball Federation. The team has participated in four FIBA World Championship for Women and their best finish has been a silver medal in 1998, 2002 and 2006. In European Women Basketball Championship the Russian team won gold medals in 2003, 2007 and 2011, silver medals in 2001, 2005 and 2009, and bronze in 1995 and 1999. They have participated in five Olympic Games, winning two bronze medals. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIBA banned Russian teams and officials from participating in FIBA 3x3 Basketball competitions. BC Ekaterinburg (russian: БК «УГМК») is a Russian women's basketball team based in Yekaterinburg competing in the Russian Premier League, and until February 2022 in FIBA Europe's EuroLeague Women. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, in February 2022 EuroLeague Women suspended the club. Founded in 1938 as Zenit Sverdlovsk, the club had its name changed to Uralmash Sverdlovsk in 1960, like other teams from the city such as FC Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast. Four years later Uralmash reached the Soviet Top Division. In 1973 and 1974 it attained two 3rd spots, the club's best results in the Soviet era. WBC Dynamo Moscow (russian: ЖБК Динамо Москва) is a Russian women's basketball club playing in the Russian Premier League. Founded in 1923, it was one of the most successful teams in the early stages of the Soviet Championship, winning its first 6 seasons and 5 more titles up to 1958. Dynamo culminated this golden era reaching in 1959 the final of the inaugural edition of the European Cup, which they lost to Slavia Sofia.
