Iowa Senate, District 37
The 37th District of the Iowa Senate is located in eastern Iowa, and is currently composed of Cedar and Johnson Counties. David Jacoby (politician)
David Jacoby (born 1956) is the Iowa State Representative from the 86th District. A Democrat, he has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2003, when he was elected in a special election following the resignation of Dick Myers. Jacoby currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Appropriations committee; the Human Resources committee; the State Government committee; and the Commerce committee, where he is chair. Kent Sorenson
Kent Sorenson (born March 29, 1972) is a former Iowa state legislator who resigned after pleading guilty to obstruction of justice and other felonies related to campaign finances. Sorenson graduated from Indianola High School in 1990. He was the owner and operator of Pro-Kleen Maintenance. According to his LinkedIn profile, Sorenson is currently a realtor with EXIT Realty North Star in Norwalk, IA. Sorenson is not listed as an agent on the EXIT website. Sorenson resigned from office on October 2, 2013, after Iowa's Senate Ethics committee found "probable cause" that Sorenson violated state ethics rules by taking illegal payments from the Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul campaigns in the 2012 Republican presidential primaries and that "his denials of doing so constituted felonious misconduct in office." Staci Appel
Staci Lynn Appel (born April 19, 1966) is an American politician from the U.S. state of Iowa. She served in the Iowa Senate as the Assistant Majority Leader from 2007 to 2011 representing the 37th district. A Democrat, in 2014 she unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives for Iowa's 3rd congressional district. Early life Appel was born in Waterloo, Iowa. Mary Kramer
Mary E. Kramer (born June 14, 1935) is an American former politician. A member of the Republican Party, she served as an Iowa State Senator from 1990 to 2003. She was elected President of the Senate in 1997, becoming the first independently elected woman to fill the post. In 2003 Kramer was nominated by President George W. Ralph Rosenberg
Ralph Rosenberg (born 7 October 1949) is an American politician. Ralph Rosenberg is of Jewish descent, born to parents Nathan and Rhea Rosenberg in Chicago on 7 October 1949. He was educated at Bowen High School, and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972, then completed legal studies at Drake Law School in 1974. He remained in Story County, serving as county attorney for juvenile court and director of the county branch of The Legal Aid Society. Mariannette Miller-Meeks
Mariannette Jane Miller-Meeks (born September 6, 1955) is an American physician and politician serving as the U.S. representative from Iowa's 2nd congressional district since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Miller-Meeks served as Iowa state senator for the 41st district from 2019 to 2021. Her district includes most of Iowa's southeastern quadrant, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Burlington, Iowa City, and Miller-Meeks's hometown of Ottumwa. Miller-Meeks ran three unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. House against Dave Loebsack. When Loebsack retired in 2020, she ran again and defeated Rita Hart by a margin of six votes.
