David Jacoby (born 1956) is the Iowa State Representative from the 86th District. A Democrat, he has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2003, when he was elected in a special election following the resignation of Dick Myers. Jacoby currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Appropriations committee; the Human Resources committee; the State Government committee; and the Commerce committee, where he is chair. Iowa General Assembly
The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. Like the federal United States Congress, the General Assembly is a bicameral body, composed of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives respectively. The Senate consists of four year terms and the House consists of two year terms. The General Assembly convenes within the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Composition The Iowa General Assembly consists of 50 senators and 100 representatives. Each senator represents about 60,927 people and each representative about 30,464 people . There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the upper house, the Iowa Senate, state House representatives serve two-year terms with the whole chamber up for re-election in even-numbered years. There are no term limits for the House. Minnette Frerichs Doderer (May 16, 1923 – August 12, 2005) was an American politician. Dorothy F. Carpenter (; March 13, 1933 – April 2, 2011) was an American politician. She was a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 1980 to 1994.
