The 19th District of the Iowa Senate is located in southern Iowa, and is currently composed of Polk County. Chuck Larson
Charles W. 'Chuck' Larson Jr. (born April 1, 1968, in Newton, Iowa) is the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US to the Republic of Latvia. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Larson was the Iowa State Senator from the 19th District from 2003–2007, was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 1993-2001, and is a former chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. Norman Goodwin
Norman J. Goodwin (January 5, 1913 – April 2, 2010) was an American politician. A native of Austin, Minnesota, Norman Goodwin was born to parents Niels and Nellie Goodwin on January 5, 1913. He attended LaBarr Grade School before graduating from Austin High School. Goodwin earned a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1936 and 1945, respectively. Goodwin moved to Clinton County, Iowa, where he farmed and served as county extension director from 1951 to 1978. He was elected to his first term on the Iowa Senate later that year, and represented District 39 for four years as a Republican. Goodwin subsequently won two terms for District 19. Cindy Axne
Cynthia Lynne Axne (née Wadle; born April 20, 1965) is an American politician who is the U.S. representative from Iowa's 3rd congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she narrowly defeated incumbent Republican David Young in the 2018 elections. The district is anchored in the state capital Des Moines; it includes much of the state's southwest quadrant, including Council Bluffs. Axne is the only Democrat in the United States House delegation from Iowa, of which she also serves as the dean. Iowa's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Iowa that covers its southwestern quadrant, which roughly consists of an area stretching from Des Moines to the borders with Nebraska and Missouri. Garrett Gobble (born May 2, 1995) is an American politician and educator who served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 38th district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021 and served until January 8, 2023. Early life and education Gobble was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. After graduating from Southeastern Community College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Iowa in 2017. Career After graduating from college, Gobble moved to Iowa City, Iowa and worked as a substitute teacher and as a clerk at Hy-Vee. The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half.
