Jon Thorup
Jon Thorup is an American politician and law enforcement officer who served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 28th district. Elected in November 2018, he assumed office on January 14, 2019. Early life and education Thorup was born and raised in Knoxville, Iowa. He graduated from Knoxville High School. Iowa General Assembly
The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. Like the federal United States Congress, the General Assembly is a bicameral body, composed of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives respectively. The Senate consists of four year terms and the House consists of two year terms. The General Assembly convenes within the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Wally E. Horn (born November 28, 1933) is a former Iowa State Senator who served the 27th, 25, and 17th Districts. Horn served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Judiciary committee; the Labor and Business Relations committee; the Rebuild Iowa committee; and the State Government committee. Donald Avenson
Donald D. Avenson (September 16, 1944 – May 19, 2017) was an American politician in the state of Iowa. Early life Avenson was born on September 16, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Donald C. and Wilma G. Avenson. The family lived in Oelwein, Iowa, and he graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1962. On August 1, 1964, he married Diane Mary Duda and the couple had three children. Avenson attended the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, receiving his bachelor's degree in political science and history in 1970, and completed his graduate studies in history at the University of Northern Iowa.
